Tales of the Kama Sutra: The Perfumed Garden (****)

Thursday, September 2, 2004 10:05

[Edited to add: I typed this sometime between 7:30 and 8:00am this morning, immediately after watching the movie. It was written BEFORE my last rambling, which revised my theory regarding the girl who broke my heart at the ASR "AmeriKKKan Terrorista" 2004 wilderness training camp in Del Norte. Now I'm getting it into the database. A second attempt. [To self: please remember to reverse sync the last rambling back to argo later.]]

Quick revision of theory

Thursday, September 2, 2004 08:47

I take back everything I said 24 hours ago about the girl whose name began with L, who I met briefly at the ASR2004 camping trip. I also apologize for my quick jumping to conclusions.

The Goddess Watches Over Her Children

Success, Finally

HERE's the one I wanted, dammit! Amazon.com DOES have it, but it didn't show up when I searched their DVD section for the words "KAMA SUTRA" (21 other results were yielded, however.)

I wake up again, wanting to know myself

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 13:06

Again, the image tells me, as it comes back to haunt me through the time of the days past. Everything I need to know is in this picture I drew. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. I am a Pagan. I worship the Goddess. Always have been, always will be, even if I might forget sometimes.

The Big Collapse, back at Circuit City in Boulder

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 12:42

As I paid for my items at Best Buy, 2 clerks -- both male and female --teamed up on me while my items were scanned. They were "offering" me a bunch of free issues of Entertainment Weekly, or whatever it was. I already know how these scams work, and explicitly opted out of everything, wanting only to pay for the purchases I had selected. (One burn -- an easily reversed charge to my bank card when I thought I was getting a free trial of something -- happened at Media Play around 2.5 years ago. It was enough to keep me, a a fairly affluent customer at the time, away from that store, to which I have only rarerly ever returned since. Now I know the game, so I "just say no". At the same time, I felt sorry for the sales people, as they obviously had huge incentives to perform, and I could see that they were expecting to suffer somehow if I refused them. But I did it anyway. Their beauty could not sway me. Not yet, at least. If trends continue, the offer might also include an off-the-books free blow job by next year. We'll see.)

Back again. Exhausted, but pressing.

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 11:23

10:00. I just woke up from another nap. During it, I slumbered so deeply and so peacefully that I didn't notice my dad at all. Thank the Goddess for that. He had put away all the food he had been trying to stuff into me. I looked around the kitchen long enough to know. If I were to go any further, he would tell me (without my asking) that it is in the fridge, and then try to start getting it back out for me. So I walked back to the computer before he could even see me. He is washing his dishes right now. I'm so glad I slept for a little while.

Cataloging, another attempt. Store #1: Best Buy.

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 08:11

It's morning now, and I'm going back to cataloging. Separate the good merchandise from the bad, and return the bad to the store from which it originated. This is really teaching me a lesson when it comes to running out and indescriminately buying a bunch of movies without doing my "buyer beward" research first.

Cataloging

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 06:55

I am mentally ill, and I need help. I was planning on just cataloging my purchases, and having enough movies to enjoy for months to come. But the first one I tried was Harsh Realm, and it didn't work at all in Argo's player. Every disc in the set gives bad sector errors. Is the Music/Movie industry TRYING to do itself in?

Shoutouts

Bitscape: Correction: George Bush actually has his main speech tonight. Last night, he "spoke" in an appearance via teleconference, but all he did there was introduce his wife. (Who, in turn, talked for a long time -- very sincerely, I'm sure -- without really taking a single stance on any issue until I got sick of it and tuned out. Summary of what I heard, "Oh how I love my husband George. Let me count the ways.") What a bunch of empty hype. But I'm still going to tune in to see what he says tonight.
2004-09-01 18:52:57

Bitscape: Correction AGAIN: Actually, my dad says Bush won't speak again until TOMORROW (Thursday) night. Tonight it's just Dick Cheney. But tomorrow, I want to at least go to hacking society. Maybe I can go out to my car and listen to Bush in the parking lot at hacking society (and invite others to join me if they care to share in the two minutes hate, or something). I'm sure we'll figure it out.
2004-09-01 18:57:40

Bitscape: Still, I'll be interested to hear what Cheny says tonight on the gay right issue.
2004-09-01 18:59:17

Bitscape: Gay rights, I mean, hah. (For those who don't know: Cheney is one of the few republicans who has recently come out in support for gay rights; probably because he has a lesbian daughter. So what he says on that is key to whether or not the republicans can be trusted at all. Will he say anything at all about it, or just prattle on in praise of Bush like Arnold did last night?) TUNE IN AND WATCH.
2004-09-01 19:00:50

Bitscape realizes he is now advertising for the opposition party, and will thus withdraw and be silent for a moment.
2004-09-01 19:01:40

Bitscape: The stark contrast between the lies of the republicans and reality couldn't be made more clear than this article describes: [www.thestar.com] We are living in Orwell's world.
2004-09-01 19:17:02

Bitscape just listened to Cheney's speech, broadcast over pacifica radio. (with occassional bits of commentary about what was happening in the building by the pacifica newscasters between Cheney's statements.) Honestly, I'm not worried at all now. The Republicans tried to make it sound like Nuremburg, with all that chanting and insane applause. But according to the Pacifica people, the audience didn't even fill the building. Instead, Cheney spoke to a sparse crowd, while outside, demonstrators continued to protest in the streets. Message: The Republican Party is a hollow shell full of lies and illusions, so full of its own fear that it is unwilling to acknowledge a single shred of self-doubt, while they deride Kerry whenever he honestly considers both sides of any given issue. My vote will go to Kerry/Edwards, thank you. (And did you notice that Cheney was such a coward that he didn't even bring up the gay rights issue tonight at all? He is not the man of courage he pretends to be. He is a deceiver.)
2004-09-01 21:04:23

Yanthor: Yeah, like the Democrats don't lie either! Listening to them, you'd think that Bush didn't do one thing right. That's obviously not the case. No human being could manage to make every decision during 4 years be bad, but the political reality is that neither side dares to say, "Yes, that guy made some right decisions, but he made more bad ones."
2004-09-01 23:09:25

Yanthor: To say that the Republicans are so completely 100% wrong is the same one-sided thinking that Rush Limbaugh uses to say that 100% of everything the Democrats stand for is wrong and stupid.
2004-09-01 23:16:51

Yanthor: Both sides are a conglomeration of sometimes competing interests that as a whole is powerful enough to be within striking distance of the majority of Americans during any given national election. Many issues like "personal freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights" are spread half-heartedly between the parties.
2004-09-01 23:19:37

Bitscape: If Bush refuses to admit his own wrongs, how can anyone on the other side have room to admit what he did that was right?
2004-09-01 23:30:48

Bitscape: If Bush (or Kerry, for that matter) had a conscience, this is what they would be talking about and discussing. But they aren't. We won't hear a single mention of it from either the Republican or Democratic convention. Welcome to Nazi America. [www.kenkinder.com]
2004-09-02 01:19:20

Yanthor: I want to know something else. If the ACLU is truly as non-partisan as they say, why is there no mention of firearm rights on their website?
2004-09-02 02:08:18

Bitscape: Perhaps because that's not one of the causes they advocate. They can only do so much. They leave gun rights to others. Just like the EFF is a good lobbying organization, but I very rarely, if ever, hear them talk about abortion rights.
