Exhausted

Monday, April 28, 2003 01:02

Back to work today, and within an hour of arriving at the store, I felt drained, demoralized, and exhausted again. My job sux, but it's the best thing I've got going for me right now. So I press on, even if I'm not always sure why.

Two Days Off Summary

Sunday, April 27, 2003 02:38

I have had a distinct lack of inspiration to write recently. This can be evidenced by the fact that the only thing visible on my front page (items posted within the last week) is titled "Blank", and the content is exactly what the title describes. I really don't want this page to turn into a ghost site. Therefore, I am forcing myself to write tonight, even though I don't particularly feel motivated to do so.

Living the American Life

Friday, April 18, 2003 02:53

Last night, when I arose from my computer to drive a few blocks to get to my bed, I unhappily discovered that my right knee sent a wave of exquisite pain whenever the joint made any movement. Apparently, the day of skiing had taken its toll in a way that could only be discovered many hours after the fact. I limped down to the car, drove home, and limped up the stairs to bed.

Sinking

Monday, April 14, 2003 04:08

I shouldn't be up this late. The thoughts wandering through my mind now are not particularly pleasant ones. Maybe it would be a good idea for me to just shut up, close this window, and go to bed. Maybe. But for some reason, some part of me feels like I won't be complete unless I do this first.

What am I doing in chicken land?

Monday, April 7, 2003 03:00

I've been extremely lax about keeping this page updated as to events in my life (or lack of it as the case may be) lately, but here's a few little items from the past few days.

Chicago (*** 1/2)

A good, fun musical. (Did it deserve the best picture Oscar? No IMO. It was a very good movie, however.)

Kohan and other randomness

Tuesday, April 1, 2003 01:33

First, before I forget, as requested, I'm posting my films from tonight's Kohan games. Players were: Yanthor, Humblik, Jaeger, myself, and various computer AIs. All games took place on 96x96 randomly generated maps. Quite small, given the number of players, but it kept the games (relatively) short. The games were also observed by Linknoid, whose net connection had too high a latency for him to play.

Shoutouts

Yanthor: Bitscape: Ah, I see. While I agree that it could be considered a form of war, I tend to believe it to be a completely separate event that sometimes happens during war or is perpetuated by a warlike regime.
2003-04-01 12:02:41

Yanthor: I believe a good example of this is Riwanda. As I understand what happened there, a president of one ethnicity was believed to have been assassinated by members of the other ethnicity. Riots about this degenerated into general extermination of each other. And I believe the government disolved into this chaos for awhile too.
2003-04-01 12:04:31

Yanthor: So if my facts are straight, there is an example of genocide without a typical war. But I guess the definition of war itself is a bit vague. m-w.com gives the main definition of war as: "...a state of...armed hostile conflict between states or nations..." A secondary definion is more general and talks about competition between opposing forces which could be used to define what happened in Riwanda.

Linknoid: I guess I'm supposed to click on the IMDB link, huh?
2003-04-03 21:26:08

Linknoid: Oh well, read the review, doesn't look interesting (to me)
2003-04-03 21:28:04

Bitscape: Yeah, the few movielog entries I've been making lately have been rather pathetic. I guess I haven't felt terribly motivated to write a lot.
2003-04-03 23:59:50

Bitscape: Did enjoy the movie though. Your tastes may vary.
2003-04-04 00:00:09

2003-04-07 11:53:54

Linknoid: Wasn't that about when ucollege upgraded from ISDN to a T1? Or was that in 1998?

bouncing was unable to find the downloadable Modanna song. :(

Linknoid: Why, oh, why couldn't B5 come out this week...it's the calm before the storm.
2003-04-28 15:49:06

Linknoid: Almost nobody here this weekend, so this is probably the last time I get a weekend off for...quite a while, and not much to do this week.
2003-04-28 15:50:10

Linknoid: But after this week, it's going to start really getting insane, May is the busiest month of the year here.
2003-04-28 15:50:51

Linknoid: Oh, wait, it is coming out this week, but it probably won't arrive until next week, or the end of this one.
2003-04-28 15:51:34

bouncing: I heard about Rick Santorum. Texas is, in alot of ways, a pretty sweet state. But it has an illness, a serious illness. If there is a personification of everything that is wrong with Texas, it is Rick Santorum.
2003-04-29 08:44:33

Yanthor: I have come to believe that both Republicans and Democrats have the same view regarding government. They both want it to be big and control your life. They just differ on what the items are that are to be controlled.
2003-04-29 14:22:48

Yanthor: They have both said they are for streamlining government. But they did so when attacking an institution the other holds dear. I know this is a rank generalization, but an example would be Democrats trying to downsize the military and Republicans trying to trim the parts of government that monitor business.
