Good films, plots, schemes, etc

Saturday, June 30, 2001 19:52

So today I've been watching my Dogma DVD that I recently purchased. What a great film! I love films that manage to blend comedy, drama, thought provoking stuff, and also blatent silliness into a strange little mix, and make it work. IMO, Dogma does it. Was it perfect? No. A really fun film though.

This evening, we did Worst Scifi Universe location shooting. A most entertaining experience. This is indeed going to be a feature of epicly hideous proportions.

Monday, June 25, 2001 00:12

This afternoon, I journied to the Boulder Compound to act in The Worst Scifi Universe Ever, the conclusion to the worst trilogy ever. To my great surprise, this film involved several previously unknown advanced techniques such as multiple takes of scenes, editing capabilities, and something almost resembling a script (for a couple of the scenes anyway).

Trivial Anecdote

Friday, June 22, 2001 23:27

So, as sometimes happens, I get the late night food craving. Nothing in the fridge which would quite do it for me. Need food? No problem. I run out and jump into Tobias. The only question is where to go? Vaguely leaning toward a possible KFC, I started the engine.

Just one more chapter...

Monday, June 18, 2001 01:15

You know how it goes. Very late at night. Book in hand. You know you should go to bed, but you want to find out what happens next. You promise yourself you'll read to the end of the chapter, and then quit and go to bed. The end of the chapter comes and goes. And another. And another. Before you know it, you can barely hold your eyes open. But still, just one more chapter. Just one more!

BLUG, new toys, etc.

Friday, June 15, 2001 00:01

Tonight, BLUG attendance by those I know was at a high for the year. Zan Lynx, myself, bouncing, and Jaeger met up there and listened to Kevin Fenzi speak about how to run a Linux box securely. Mostly common sense type stuff, but good to review nonetheless. There's probably certain measures I ought to be taking more often. Indeed, indeed.

From the talaxians-getting-hitched dept...

Monday, June 11, 2001 01:30

I'm really not going to have time to give this one the length it deserves tonight, due to the fact that I'm tired enough to fall over, it's after midnight, and I have work in the morning. If by some freak happenstance I do give it the length it deserves, the sleep deprivation department will be getting a serious wake up call. Ok, so that last clause made no sense. Let's get on with it.

DVD Spree + Rant

Saturday, June 2, 2001 02:50

Last weekend, when I wanted to see more South Park, I made a trip to Best Buy in search of the set containing Volumes 4, 5, and 6. I was unsuccessful. Even since they came out, I have also been keeping my eyes peeled for Farscape Volumes 2 and 3 at every retail outlet I have happened to be at. Also unsuccessful.

Shoutouts

Bitscape: Jaeger as a politician. Now that is a scary thought.
2001-06-01 18:15:11-06

Jäger: eh?
2001-06-01 19:09:33-06

Bitscape: If I may quote: "although in my presidential campaign speech, I tossed a nice flame in Becker's direction" I can just imagine that campaign speech... "If I am elected, all the hard working PCs in this great nation shall be freed from the burden of WINDOWS. And an official POP server will be created so that people may access and download their email conveniently."
2001-06-01 23:50:17-06

Jäger: Actually, there already is an official POP server.
2001-06-02 19:32:51-06

bse: hmmm.. welcome back festing.org? :)
2001-06-04 08:49:17-06

Jäger: Rage's DNS has been going down randomly lately. It's rather obnoxious, but I don't have time to hunt down the problem.
2001-06-04 11:38:05-06

bse: indeed
2001-06-06 08:58:56-06

bse: the odd thing is, my linux workstation with mozilla refuses to acknowledge festing.org, but the powerbook with ie5 finds it fine :) very bizarre
2001-06-06 09:00:39-06

bse: even weirder is that im using dhcp via the gateway, so both boxes are using hte same DNS servers.. =o
2001-06-06 09:02:02-06

Bitscape: You know Jaeger, taken out of context, your statement could be construed as quite sinister. "I'm also trying to burn everything I can get my hands on..."
2001-06-06 18:59:00-06

Bitscape: 0.9.1 is out everybody! Let's all go hammer ftp.mozilla.org!
2001-06-07 19:45:35-06

Bitscape: Ooooh! It's... schlickety!
2001-06-07 19:52:03-06

Jäger: bleep! just after I leave the fun bandwidth!
2001-06-08 07:54:30-06

bse: you'll never guess what i went and did today...
2001-06-09 12:55:03-06

bse: it involved a sharp peice of metal; and my face. :)
2001-06-09 12:56:33-06

Jäger: That sounds distressing.
2001-06-10 01:25:27-06

bse: it's quite nifty.. piece of metal in my eyebrow.. groovy
2001-06-10 08:32:02-06

Jäger: Please, tell us more.
2001-06-11 01:14:22-06

bse: well, you can see it in of its glory over here.. im also on my cam most of the time too.. ;)
2001-06-11 06:00:57-06

bse: (yes yes, i know about the damn wallpaper)
2001-06-11 06:02:09-06

Bitscape: Note to self: Attend BLUG Thursday night.
2001-06-11 17:35:26-06

Bitscape: There. I hereby christen Content Solutions as my official personal scheduling software.
2001-06-11 17:37:27-06

bse: i just realised i had the old ip for rage in my /etc/hosts. which is why ic ould only access via the laptop. all good now.
2001-06-11 20:17:59-06

Jäger: That is truly exciting wallpaper.
2001-06-12 21:47:12-06

bse: my website is almost recomplete.. im pondering reimplanting my solutions code..
2001-06-13 06:47:12-06

bse: but right now, kde is building.. it hsould have built while i slept, but a weird include fiel bug appeared which i had to fix jsut now.. bugger..
2001-06-13 06:47:51-06

bse: i just *love* my wallpaper...
2001-06-13 06:48:44-06

Jäger loves the 256 meg dimm he just put in Ziyal.
2001-06-13 15:30:34-06

bse also loves the new KDE 2.1.1. it's just spiffy, with its antialiased fonts, and speed. yum.
2001-06-14 06:13:58-06

bse: (performance AND amphetemines :)
2001-06-14 06:14:42-06

Bitscape: BLUG Tonight!
2001-06-14 07:58:38-06

Jäger: BLUG! Sounds good to me.
2001-06-14 11:21:48-06

Jäger checks in from the cabinet
2001-06-14 12:45:59-06

Linknoid: Could somebody enlighten me as to what BLUG is?
2001-06-15 13:08:41-06

Jäger: boulder linux user's group
2001-06-15 13:38:51-06

bse: i think i shall mention now.. i totally love Java now.
2001-06-15 22:10:48-06

bse: been hacking and slowly rewriting my C based bot in it. i'm just drooling at its utter simplicity and OO nature. damn. it rocks! still no sign of my airport hardware though.. grr..
2001-06-15 22:11:55-06

Jäger returns from his first day at Spatial
2001-06-18 18:17:19-06

Jäger: hey, looks like there's mozilla out for OS X.
2001-06-19 11:14:12-06

bse: ooh.. that'll be handy, considering i cant get mozilla to run in FreeBSD (konqueror works, with antialiased text.. mm.. kde2.1.1 rocks :)
2001-06-19 19:32:37-06

bse: and yes, i'm now runnign FreeBSD. linux has decided taht it realyl doesnt like my computer nor my network (wont acknowledege dhcp, or even a static setup); and X insists on locking up (unless i was running E).
2001-06-19 19:33:44-06

bse: so now, i'm a FreeBSDer, have to remove linux from the second hard drive and expand freebsd out from its 10gig partition on the first (30 gig) hard drive. (i installed it to try it out a few months ago..)
2001-06-19 19:35:40-06

Bitscape: So, anyone else here planning on making a purchase on October 16? :)
2001-06-19 21:40:59-06

Zan Lynx: And what in particular occurs on that splendiferous day? Our ears, would they find it euphonious?
2001-06-19 23:20:28-06

Jäger: /me!
2001-06-19 23:29:13-06

Bitscape: Clue: It was a Slashdot headline today.
2001-06-19 23:51:36-06

bouncing: FreeBSD is nice. Much nicer E/IDE implementation than Linux. Linux kernel hackers only seem to care about SCSI. So I just switched to SCSI.
2001-06-20 00:36:52-06

bse: i'll be in america on that date (for one hole month!) i'll be making a purchace of said product. :)
2001-06-20 08:31:31-06

bse is currently sitting inthe living room, watching the kerrang channel, and chatting on irc. wireless is so groovy :)
2001-06-20 09:40:55-06

Jäger talked to a BSD SCSI hacker once.
2001-06-20 14:30:34-06

bse: once.. before he mysteriously disappeared...
2001-06-20 20:58:51-06

Jäger: well, not exactly...
2001-06-21 23:39:14-06

Jäger: Today is Tim Russ' birthday!
2001-06-22 12:30:06-06

Bitscape: Happy birthday, Tukok, if you read this. (yeah right)
2001-06-22 19:54:50-06

Bitscape: Is it just me, or has slashdot been down for like the last day?
2001-06-24 07:26:18-06

bse: apparently their cisco melted...
2001-06-25 20:09:12-06

scott: java is better than perl; and ken is a hebitch.
2001-06-26 01:34:57-06

bse: java is neat. have to tear myself away from UT, and continue writing my java irc bot
2001-06-26 06:35:25-06

Jäger: Perl is unbeatable for quick text processing. But Java is better for other things.
2001-06-26 07:55:32-06

bouncing: Java: The speed of BASIC but the complexity of C++ :)
2001-06-27 17:18:56-06

scott: x13.com is now officially boring.
2001-06-28 13:41:39-06

Jäger: as if it wasn't before?
2001-06-28 14:35:20-06

Jäger: Actually, it looks very slightly less boring than it was, say, last week. When it said "x13.com will be down for May."
2001-06-28 14:36:10-06

bse: those fonts are quite boring. they could be more boring, though.
2001-06-28 16:28:36-06

Zan Lynx: Jäger's journal dates seem to indicate time travel. Being able to jump back a day in time must be quite useful!
2001-06-28 22:11:51-06

Bitscape: 0.9.2. Get it. Now.
2001-06-29 17:53:06-06

Bitscape: And the beast shall be made legion. Its numbers shall be increased a thousand thousand fold. The din of a million keyboards like unto a great storm shall cover the earth, and the followers of Mammon shall tremble.
2001-06-29 17:56:40-06

bouncing has upgraded to a 1.2 ghz Athlon, 512 megs ram. Unfortunately, it only runs at 900 mhz cuz bouncing's bus doesn't support multipliers for class C athlons. :/ I couldn't find a class b 1ghz+ anymore. Next motherboard it'll be nutty though.
2001-06-29 18:16:06-06

bse: is class c 'palamino'(sp)? with class b being 'thunderbird'?

2001-06-30 19:25:58-06

bouncing: bse: Perhaps. I'm not sure. The guys form outsideloop.com looked all around for a faster athlon for my system but they no longer make them for my class of motherboard. Fortunately, it just means to work either way, just not at full speed.
