Change in weather

Iowa

Monday, January 19, 2004 20:18

At this point, the Iowa results show Kerry coming out in the lead, followed by Edwards, with Dean in a distant 3rd. At least they didn't go for Lieberman. That, at least, is a small favor.

From the irate stats department...

Tuesday, January 13, 2004 22:33

I got bored, and decided to tabulate what the distribution curve looks like on the music I've rated on irate. I honestly wasn't quite certain how it would look, but the results are interesting.

Eating out day

Tuesday, January 13, 2004 20:14

Jaeger took me out to lunch today at Wahoo's. We decided to eat outside, it being a balmy January day, and ended up having the whole outdoor patio to ourselves for most of the meal. While eating our burritos and tacos we discussed exciting things like the job market, circut boards, and cubism (with the word "game" prepended).

Firefly

Friday, January 9, 2004 04:40

Last Saturday, I succumbed. The Temptation Zone (otherwise known as Best Buy) had 1 copy of Firefly left on their shelves. Even though it was officially released last month, it seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time for any appreciable number of copies to trickle into retail outlets. (It was nowhere to be found last month when I checked on release day.) I decided to call it a holiday present to myself, and made the purchase.

Occassional flexing may help prevent atrophy

Friday, January 9, 2004 03:03

Coming up near the "1 week" point since I last posted anything, I figure now is as good as a time as any. This time, the cause hasn't been a lack of things I could write about. In fact, there are several fresh topics that have been queueing up in my brain (and I will almost certainly get to them momentarily).

A first for me -- telemarketing in an (almost) foreign language

Friday, January 2, 2004 18:20

Well, that was not so lovely. I just got a call on my cell from a strange person who sort of spoke something that sounded almost like English with a very very heavy accent. If I were going to guess, I'd say she was from India. I understand enough to know that it was Providian bank (with whom I do have a credit card). So why was this person from a corporation I formerly thought was an American company calling me?

2004-01-20 20:31:33

Bitscape: meterific, I know that a lot of people had a similar reaction to Dean's speech last night. I saw it as an optimistic way to rouse the troops to remind them that just because he didn't win Iowa, it's far from over. We'll see how he does in New Hampshire.
2004-01-20 20:39:11

2004-01-29 10:05:50

2004-01-29 21:20:41

bouncing: It was, BTW, Joe Trippi who urged Dean to open his campaign up to the grass roots. This might be one side-effect: there is growing evidence that Dean's Iowa organization was sometimes unprofessional, that it may have overwhelmed the public and grown out of control.
