music: Sweet Sensation - One Good Man

One good man
The kind who'll never make me hurt or cry
A man who'll always be there by my side
I'm just looking for that one nice guy

For some reason, Piper's little "birthday present" comes to mind now as I listen to that song.

Bah. Too long since I last typed a rambling. However, not a whole lot of significance has happened since then. So maybe there just really wasn't much of anything to say.

But now...

This afternoon, dad and I drove mom to the airport. This time, grandpa is in the hospital.

He called mom early this morning, complaining of chest pains (or something like that) during the night. Based on what he said, she advised him to hang up and call an ambulence immediately. He did so. And now, mom is going out to visit him. (An interesting coincidence -- she was planning to make another visit out there later this week anyway, and so she had already scheduled time off work.)

From what I know at this point, the diagnosis has something to do with his heart.

I sort of half wish I had gone too. I very well might have, if mom had chosen to drive, but she wanted to arrive ASAP. In any event, I'm not sure what good I could do anyway, other than to simply stand around and "be there". Poor grandparents...

...

On Tuesday (after the pseudo-holiday tomorrow), on the advise of my parents (I think a few other friends have also suggested this in the past as well), I'll be applying at one or more temp agencies. My hope had been to get something resembling a "regular" job, but since that quest has so far turned up squat, it's way past time to seek other alternatives.

...

On the slim chance that anyone in Iowa happens to be reading this, here's a little request: Please, head out tomorrow evening, attend a caucus, and vote for Howard Dean! For the good of the country. For the good of America. For the future of the world! Do it! Thank you.

Words of inspiration and optimism.

(If, on the off chance that Howard Dean loses the nomination, I have decided that this November, I will hold my nose and vote for whoever the Democratic candidate happens to be. I feel safe saying that, since at this point, Lieberman's chances appear to be next to nothing. We cannot afford another 4 years. But ya gotta root for Howard Dean, because besides being the most likeable Democrat, I think he has the best chance of the bunch of beating Bush.)

Let the flamewars begin!
