I'm sneezing up a shitstorm tonight, and I feel like shit. Current theory: The last several days of gas station food are starting to take their toll.

I wouldn't quite say I'm "sick", exactly. But the sneezing is worse than it's been in months. My nervous system is feeling erratic. Twitchy. Some of the bones in my back hurt. My whole body just feels marginally crappy.

Tomorrow, provided I wake up in time to do it before my shift begins, I think I'll take a trip to the organic food store. (Yes, thankfully, such a beast does exist in Lincoln, and it's not even too terribly far away from here, although their selection is somewhat more limited than, say, Vitamin Cottage. I should know. I attempted to apply for a job there a couple weeks ago, but they had already filled their open positions. And yes, I've also checked the "backend route"; the dumpster diving ain't so hot there, as they don't seem to throw away much food, which I guess means they're running a smart business. Too bad for the scavengers.)

Fuck "saving money" on food. I can see where that leads by looking at the condition of the woman I worked with yesterday, who's been there for nearly six months, and has chronic problems with coughing and has a hard time affording all the medications she needs to keep her sickness in check. She was also the one who raved about the bargain of the free food on the job -- she takes advantage of it regularly. And why not? It is a bargain, right?

Maybe these things are connected, maybe they're not. I'm betting on Occam's Razor. I don't want to be another Super Size Me guinea pig.

In other news, today marked another milestone. For over an hour, I was the sole attendant at the gas station. The manager left me in charge during the slow part of the aftornoon, before the evening shift person came in. And nothing catastrophic happened. Amazing.

I'm gonna see if I can convince my body to go back to sleep now.

Health food store

The health food store I go to is on South Street way over on 23rd (since you're on 84th, and you said there's one close by, I'm guessing this one isn't it). I don't know which one you're talking about, but you could try that one if you think the one you're going to doesn't have enough options. If you need more explicit directions, let me know, I don't know how well you know Lincoln streets yet.
