On a whim, I went back to watch a little bit of old Xena footage. I'd like to relate my observations before I leave the apartment. But first, a tiny bit of history.

I have in front of me a film that fits the following description: Tales of the Kama Sutra: The Perfumed Garden. It is the most effectively wrapped, worst piece of dumpster trash I ever could have bought. The truth within is so dense that it is almost unbearable. DVD version.

Only at a time when a nation is in a long and steady buildup to yet another even more gruesome war would so many power players from Hollywood and elsewhere collaborate to create such an orgiastic piece of propaganda, with a subtlety deeper than the softest chord.

Rather than try to compose mundane words, I used Gimp (Version 1.2.?) this time.

While cruising the overwhelmingly massive burst of new suburban sprawl southeast of denver, I encountered what was easily my largest and effort-free dumpster dive yet: An entire trashbag filled with nothing but large prepackaged sandwiches and salads.

In other words, I am leaving more shit in my wake. Here it is. Ya'll can consume it or leave it as you like.

What am I writing about this time? I don't know anymore.

I just realized it while I was walking down the sidewalk. I was thinking about the behavior of gambling addicts in casinos, how the House in many casinos could potentially be rigging things in ways more treacherous than previously imagined.

I think maybe I am beginning to understand Windows users, at least a little bit. A dumb little anecdote about the past 2 minutes follows.

Though some other voices might say otherwise, all I can say is... Wow. That was one hell of a time.

This will likely be the last post I write before I venture into the great unknown tomorrow. As always, I may or may not feel compelled to write using the old fashioned method while I am away.

Tying together a hodge podge of ideas -- ranging from quantum physics, to biochemistry, to spiritual discovery -- discussed in parallel with a loosely structured dramatic narrative, it's... a barrage. It is definitely a film designed to make you think, as well as entertain.

In 3 days, I will head off to anarchist camp, better known as asr2004. With this realization, today I found myself wondering if I really do need to have my head examined. Doubts of the unknown crept around inside my head.

Tonight, I believe, marks my most successful night of dumpstering yet. 7-11 had far more donuts than I could possibly consume, even if I ate nothing else for a week. I took one shopping bag full, and wistfully left the rest -- enough to feed an entire police station -- behind. (Because trans fatty acids taste better when they come from a dumpster.)

The word is in. Next week, I'm going on a retreat far, far away in the mountains. It is my hope that on this occassion, I will be able to pick up some worthwhile skills, meet some quality people, and have an enjoyable, life-affirming experience.

Today, I woke up, splashed my face in the creek, and drove to the polling place, where I touched the screen, and was left to hope and pray that the black box will count my vote correctly. (Note to self: For November, get an absentee ballot, where at least there will be some hard copy record to reflect my decision.)

Tonight, I am sleeping in the back of Tobias. Incrementalism. The transition happens, little by little. A scenario I envision goes something like this. Tonight, I sleep in Tobias. Another night, I may sleep in my bed again. Then I might go camping for a few days. Using an idea or two from Ran Prieur, I might start washing and shaving in the bathroom of a fast food chain. All this while remaining local to the Denver area, at least most of the time.

I didn't actually end up doing the squat last night. When I came into contact with my bed, laziness took hold, and a nap followed. Then I made a pizza, and watched a 3.5 hour dvd documentary about Benjamin Franklin.

Today, I revisited the mostly abandoned site I had first explored a couple months ago. This time, I looked more thoroughly around some of the areas I hadn't even bothered to venture before. The basement story of the burned down house. Some of the other crevices in the nearby shacks. Gradually, I began to entertain some of the truly outrageous thoughts that had been simmering in the back of my mind.
