Today's shift at work was really irritating. From the moment I walked in until 2200, we were beseiged by an endless onslaught of customers almost nonstop. Grrr. (It probably didn't help that I got off to a late start due to becoming so engrossed in the Enter The Matrix game that I lost track of time; this doesn't happen very often.) On the bright side, Peter stopped by at 1900, and we ate "lunch" together as twilight engulfed the city of Boulder.

Peter is a prime example of a person who has successfully made the transition from professional software development into sales. A former database guru, who once upon a time happened to be my brother's boss at a then-thriving tech company, he now works at CompUSA across the parking lot from King Soopers. Apparently, he's doing quite well at it, as he is considered their best sales person.

Though I never would have imagined my career moving in a similar direction (sales) as recently as 10 months ago, I now find that I seem to be careening farther and farther down a similar path, kicking and screaming all the way. We adapt to our world.

Tomorrow morning I go into training for my newspaper sales job. I await it with a mix of anticiaption and uncertainty. (I really should be sleeping now so I can be well-rested and alert, but who are we kidding?)

In the "Whew am I glad" category, I have the next two days off from my deli job. After 6 straight days at it, I'm more than ready to kick back. (I haven't ruled out attending yet another screening of Reloaded tomorrow night, but we'll see...)

Tonight on my way home from work, I was astounded to hear that not only is Queensryche coming to town again this summer, but they're co-headlining with Dream Theater. July 22, at the Lending Pavilion. I find myself highly tempted to pay the outrageous ticket prices, and maybe even get one of the good seats for this one. Mmmmm.... Queensryche and Dream Theater. It might just be worth it.

I'm not sure which is scariar, the fact I did not hear a thing about this on KBPI (so much for being Denver's top rock station -- they don't even mention it in the concert list on their web site), or that I did hear it when I was listening to 103.5 The Fox. Or that I was even listening to The Fox, which sort of puts me into the old fogey category.

Scary? Definitely.

Queensryche's recently redesigned website also reveals that they have a new album in the works, that it will also be released on July 22 (same day as the denver concert), and that Chris DeGarmo has rejoined the band! Wow. That is sweetness beyond imagining.

Now let's just hope the new album is better than Q2K. (That's not to say that I disliked Q2K. But let's admit the truth; the album as a whole wasn't up to the high standards set by many of the previous works of the 'Ryche.)

Now I'm going to wander off into another zone before I wind down. Peace out. Keep the faith.
