Days blend together

Days go by. Days become weeks. Weeks become months. Months become years. Where do the years go?
This week, every night after work, Argo's hard drive has been getting a serious dose of spring cleaning. As I go through obscure old directories that haven't been touched for many, many moons, I find old almost-forgotten returning briefly to the forefront.
For example, a few minutes ago, I just unearthed a script sitting in an ancient version of my bin directory (from back in the days when Dagobah was my main system) called insane_startrek_background. Minor tweaking made it work again. It's contents? Simple:
#!/bin/sh
xlock -inroot -mode star &
while [ 1 == 1 ]; do
xloadimage -onroot -fullscreen ufp.gif
sleep 10;
done
(In case any terribly bored souls out there care to try this, here's the image.)
A dumb little hack from years ago, but there it was, in an an ancient version of dagobah's bin directory, waiting to be rediscovered. And dozens of other, similarly silly stuff from years ago. What do I do with it, and all its other oddball friends? Delete them? Perish the thought! Of course not. I stick them in a newer, better organized directory hierarchy of ancient trinkets. That way, when I do the same thing again a few years from now, I can re-find all this lovely crap all over again!
I am a horrible packrat.
...
On my way from work tonight, I caught the opening of Sleepless Nights on KGNU. Due to the impending war, the DJ announced that tonight's music theme would be war music. (Or, more precisely, anti-war music -- which the DJ noted is generally much easier to find than pro-war music -- and other vaguely related material.) He started the show off with Coldcut's Every Home a Prison (with Jello Biafra). The song struck me.
So, even though I can't find a legal mp3 available for download anywhere (normally the criteria for my music recommendations is that they be available online for people to sample), I'll call that my music recommendation for tonight. Coldcut. Every Home a Prison. Off the Let Us Play cd.
Anyway, almost since I got here, I've had the web stream of the broadcast playing. Quite the variety of styles. Now the show's just about over, I think I'll sign off and get some more sleep in before my next shift.
Peace.
