VOTE on Tuesday (or something like that)

Yep, tomorrow is election day. I plan to go out and vote in the morning. I am displeased to conclude that even now, I'm still not sure who or what I'll vote for. Obviously, the race that's been getting the most press around here lately is the Senate. Tom Strickland and Wayne Allard are neck-n-neck in the polls, so I would be tempted to try to use my vote to tip the balance one way or the other. Alas, I don't particularly like either candidate.

I'm tempted to vote for Tom Strickland simply because he's a democrat, so in electing him, it would be like a vote of no confidence in Bush. But is that really wise? Is it a good idea to elect a candadite you don't care for, simply because he is a member of the so-called "opposition" party, which might have some chance of preventing our insane president from taking the country completely down the drain?

Here's what I want. I want a candidate who is willing to stand up for the civil liberties of citizens. I want someone who will work to repeal the Patriot Act, or at least its most unsavory portions. I want a candidate who is serious about copyright reform, repeal the DMCA, reverse the Sonny Bono copyright extension act, and think about a sane way to implement policies for the degital age. Is that too much to ask?

Oh well. I'll be at the polls tomorrow anyway. I can at least show up and punch a few holes in the ballot, even if all I do is vote for some unknown third party candidates as an act of protest.

Having read summaries of the ballot initiatives and other amendments, I don't recall anything terribly exciting there. I'll play that by ear too.

Then, after voting, I think I'll make a little trip to the local Temptation Zone before heading to my afternoon/evening shift in the deli. Everyone knows what's coming out on DVD tomorrow, right?

After tomorrow, I've got two days off work. I might just use a significant portion of that time to peruse whatever I might find at teh Temptation Zone tomorrow. Gotta find some way to stay sane when my current residence consists of the corner of my dad's living room. :)

Alright, I'm beat. Mass irc is a dead zone tonight. I'm gonna try a few tunes on my headphones as I zone out of consciousness, or something.

Happy voting.
