Alonzo (Denzel Washington), the leader of a narcotics squad, teaches rookie cop Jake (Ethan Hawke), the ways of the street. Part of getting the job done involves bending the rules. But how far is too far? At what point do the good guys become bad guys? As Jake sees more and more of Alonzo's world (and his twisted side), he has to make choices about how to deal with it.

A really good film. Very well acted. One of Denzel Washington's edgiest roles. The documentary confirmed that it was shot on real locations on the gang turf of LA, giving it an authentic feel. The reviews were right. It's worth seeing.
