And what could I say about tonight's season finale? Um... To me, it seems like the show has lost some of the psychological intensity it had in earlier years. Maybe it was just my mood. I dunno. But when Doggett, Skinner, Mulder, Krycek, and those other guys were chasing each other around the building, I was thinking, "Were it not for the fact that I already knew otherwise, this could be just about any random cop show."
And then of course, there was Scully's almost-immaculate conception, complete with bright shining star (or was it a UFO?), a visit from the three wise^H^H^H^H gunmen, and... um.... the last 30 seconds before end credits.... Well, I have to admit my jaw was somewhere near the floor. Was I truly watching the X Files, or had we been miraculously switched into some parallel soap opera universe? Or, not even that. Just... wierdness.
Oh, ok fine. I'll pander.
<pandering> That was just soooooooooo, soooooo sweet. What a precious, unforgettable moment. Awwwwwww. How keeuute! </pandering>
Honestly, I'm not sure what to think. I doubt that it really matters, since the series, as we know it, is now over. Yes, I know Fox is going to try to regurgitate it back next season with Doggett and some possible Scully, but um, I think some people just don't know how to leave well enough alone. Will I keep watching? I dunno. Maybe. We'll have to see.
In other news, today I met up with Zan Lynx and his brother (who recently returned home from ucollege.edu) to watch a movie called Shrek. It was a lot better than I would have thought it would be. The animation quality was simply amazing. Plus, I generally tend to be a sucker for just about anything with a fantasy theme. It was good. Really good.
After the movie, we went and ate some pizza at Woody's. Pizza, lots of yummy pizza.
After the food, I could feel the nap urge coming on. I had been thinking about going to the library, but the sleepy virus got the better of me, and when I returned to the compound, I was out for 3 hours. It was 18:00. Typed a partial movielog entry, played a bit more Alpha Centauri, watched Simpson, more Alpha Centauri, ate more pizza (someone else in the family had ordered some), and watched X Files.
Sleep. (Or is Alpha Centauri too tempting again...)
