I just arrived back from my trip to return my rental to the Video Station and mail all the monthly bills. It took entirely longer than it should have. Partly because of the heavy snow, and partly because the postal service arbitrarily decided to increase the rates, making my current stamps useless by themselves. This prompted several detours around town in an attempt to acquire a few measly 1 cent stamps. Puuah.

I barely even took notice of the snow for most of the weekend, mainly because I have not exited the compound at all since Friday night. But tonight, it was sure coming down hard. Tobias got to do a fair amount of sliding, including a nerve jolting (unintented) fishtail on one of the curves of Via Appia. But we're back safe and sound now. Whew!

A fairly uneventful weekend for the most part. That's probably for the best. After tacking on what I thought to be sufficient code tweaks, I unannouncedly put up the collective satellite view yesterday. Now, after having used it a bit more, I think it could use some work in a couple areas. Maybe a little coding tonight after this rambling. (But just a little. ;) Then a new version release of the code.

This afternoon, after waking up from a very... well... interesting nap, I was most distressed to find that the Lounge had apparently suddenly broken without any intervention on my part. It didn't take long to find out why: bouncing had attempted to upgrade the postgres on rage, and in doing so, obliterated the large objects. (This had also happened during the last upgrade. That time, I eventually just had to wipe all the tables and restore them from Dagobah's data.)

Well, neither of us really did found out why it had lost the large objects, but copying the raw directory seemed to make it work again. (Generally, a no-no, but it appeared to work for this.) Strange stuff.

Otherwise, most of the weekend here has been spent sleeping, viewing Farscape episodes, and eating pistachios. Oh, and I did catch the new Xena ep last night. I'd rate it as one of the more mediocre productions. Especially for this season. And Gabby, we missed ya in all but the very first and last scenes. Where was the mighty sidekick anyway?

(And yes, I do know the answer to that, because I did pay attention to the final opening credit. The correct response: "She was the other side of the camera, silly.")

Well, if I'm gonna code, upload, release, and get to bed before 2300, I better end this rambling pretty quick. More content to come later. Maybe.
