and I'm not a slave to a world that doesn't give a shit
Wow. Less that 48 hours after the code went public on Rage, the first outside contribution from a non-Rage account user to the Content Collective code base has arrived. Cool. A one-line usability improvement which is now in the production code. To see it, you'll need a browser which supports the title attribute in an A tag (NS4 does not; Mozilla 0.7 does it right; I have no idea what IE does). Go to the airplane view, and let the mouse hover over the areas of content. Pretty cool, eh? bse gets the credit for this one. ;)
The satellite code from Jaeger isn't in yet, but it will be. (Probably when I have a weekend during which I can actually spend an appreciable amount of time on this stuff.) It'll take a bit longer for me to butcher his code into my scheme of How Things Should Work. It's coming though.
In the bug fixing department, I swatted a rather nasty one. I discovered it, logged into Rage, and then found that Jaeger had experienced the same symptom hours earlier. Then it was off to fill my hungry stomach before the other family members either clobbered me or left me behind. (Probably the latter, which I didn't really want either.)
Immediately upon returning, I delved into the code, did the standard round of investigation, and fixed the problem. In the process, I discovered another thing that wasn't right on the Rage db. The cause? Bitscape forgot to upload a new version of a .pl file to Rage when the new color code was introduced. Oops.
Some interesting, inspiring, intriguing, and other generally odd content finding its way into the collective recently. (Some people just have way too much time on their hands. ;)
Okay. Tonight before I go to bed: Upload a new tree of the collective code. (Release early, release often.) This time, I'll come up with some arbitrary version number to use so people don't get too confused. This will include the "black" bug fix, along with bse's contribution. A minor update.
The next major update I will plan for this weekend. Of highest priority, it will incorporate Jaeger's (butchered by Bitscape?) satellite code. And anything else that happens to get added, fixed, or enhanced between now and then.
To open source! And after that, to sleep.
