Catching up

Well, I guess I'll start with the sucky news. Yes, the rumors which have been reverberating through certain sectors of meatspace are correct. On Tusday, October 18, at 2205 MDT (according to the official sheet of paper in front of me), Bitscape did indeed receive his first speeding ticket. Yuck.
Can't say it wasn't deserved, because it was. Clocked at 69 MPH in a 45 zone. I can hardly say "I got screwed." In fact, I can only be thankful it wasn't worse. Let's just say the offense I was caugh for wasn't the worst I had committed. Had I met the cop a minute prior to when I did, you could more than double the difference between the first number and the second. Lucky that I wasn't pulled over earlier, or unlucky that I was at all? You decide.
Uggh. So now I get the option to either show up in court in January, or pay $110 within 20 days. If I go to court, and am found guilty, I pay the fine, plus court costs, and get 6 points off my license. If I pay up now, the penalty gets reduced to 4 points, and I can avoid the hassle of court. Given that my chances of winning are NOT looking good, and I know damn well that I was going too fast, I think I'll just pay up. So much for low insurance bills.
So what was Bitscape doing out on the road last night? Well, after viewing last night's Quality Television Programming (which consisted of a most excellent episode of Buffy, followed by a most excellent episode of Dark Angel), I somehow got the idea that I should visit a record store. How? Well, a fellow content farmer wrote about hearing an interview in which a certain Reverend talk about his new material.
At this, Bitscape scratched his head, and thought, "The's new album is out? Well, if he's doing the interview circut, maybe it is." Had Bitscape bothered to do some net research, he would have discovered that the new movie/album won't be out for a while. But no, the first thought was: "Must reach record store before closing time!" Jump out of chair. Fire up Tobias, and off! And so the wild goose chase began.
Here's the truly sad part: I actually got the speeding ticket on the way back home. Douuuuuuuh. I'm not sure how many super genius points that deserves, but I'm pretty cirtain that the combined events of the evening would be more than sufficient to entitle me to the award for this week.
In other news... Well, these days, Bitscape's work these days has frequently consisted of certain tasks which, by their very nature, leave him idle for chunks of time. So today, during one of those idle chunks, Bitscape stumbled across the religion test. Somewhat similar to a personality test, it asks a series of questions, and uses the answers to determine which religion is best suited to the user.
The reason I'm mentioning this is because the results I found quite interesting. At the very top -- score 100: Neo-Pagan. Curious. I had always thought of myself as more of an agnostic. Or maybe a humanist. Hmmm. But those were both a ways down on the chart, at like 70 or something. (I don't recall exactly.) Curious. Very curious.
Ok, but here's the kicker: At the very bottom of my chart. Score: 0. [drumroll, please.]
...
ROTFL. Ok, I mean, I know I haven't exactly been the good little church-going boy lately, but 0? Unbelievable. Well, actually, looking at the list there -- a very familiar rehash of the same shit I've heard just a few too many times over the course of my life, maybe it's not too surprising. Still though, the fact that there would be a 0 next to the religion with which I was raised.... There's some kind of delicious irony there. A wayward soul I am indeed. lol.
I mean, even Catholic had a few little tiny points near the bottom there. Yikes. But not even a single point to the good ole Seventh Day bunch. No wonder I didn't feel very at home at ucollege.edu.
Okay, now that I've probably offended a sizable portion of the expanding content vulture solutions expert readers, I think I'll terminate this rambling, resolve not to drive anywhere tonight, and see if I can find a single tv in this house that has halfway decent UPN reception. Peace, vultures.
