Well, at least I got little a nap this evening.
Downloaded M17 this evening. Having used it for my evening surfing activities, I'd have to agree with the views some others have expressed, and say this browser pretty much rocks. Looks like crappy ole NS 4.7 might finally be on its way out the door for this web surfer. Good riddance!
Investigating the possibility of getting DVD playing working on Argo, I learned that I will either need to upgrade to 2.4test or make yet another kernel patch. Methinks this is getting ridiculous. Patches for AGP, USB, SBLive stuff, and now DVD?!? Though I haven't done it yet, I think in the near future, I'll be jumping onto the 2.4 ship. And then, while we're on the bleeding edge slippery slope, why not go for Xfree86 4? Why not indeed? :)
Back to the Mozilla thing... I suppose to truly give a fair evaluation of its performance, I should copy the tarball over to Dagobah and run it there. Word had reached my eyes that performance was significantly better in M17 than previous versions. Since even a pile of hideous bloatware would probably look fast on Argo, I'll have to give it a spin it on Dagobah, just to see.
So many things to pursue, so few hours in the day...
The work situation these days.... ... I guess you could say I've been kind of bummed about some things lately. Nothing terribly catastrophic, but... I'm trying to keep a positive spirit about all of it. Sometimes succeeding, sometimes not. You just gotta do the best you can, ya know? Even when things get fucked up. That's life.
Then come home at the end of the day, relax, work on improving one's personal situataon however one sees fit... Surf a little, write a little, read a little, maybe watch a movie every now and then.... Not forgetting, of course, to configure one's PC. :) And then repeat the cycle.
"...and the pursuit of happiness." Indeed.
[Bitscape listens to an mp3 of "The Vision"... Recurring musical and visual sequence from season 4, XWP. Haunting stuff.]
I am loathe to go back to sleep when there is so much awesome stuff I could be doing, DSL being back up and all, but I think I shall shutdown, after reading a little dead tree content.
(Yes, I do seem to be getting back into that habit of a few pages each night before bed. What can I say? These Vampire books are addictive. :)
Night.
