Something resembling a weekend report

Friday night -- saw Gladiator, as reported in movielog.

Saturday -- slept quite a bit. Didn't do a whole lot of anything, really. Was feeling fairly shitty as the evening began, as evidenced in last night's rambling. After I wrote it, spent a couple hours working on a simplified ramblings interface. Was thinking of doing a solo fest, and even bought some wake up juice, but after Xena ended, was feeling sleepy in the extreme again. Slept for nearly 10 hours, broken by the occassional "wake up and surf for a few minutes, return to bed" ritual.

Sunday -- Lazy morning. Did a little more messing around with the new design. Obviously, nothing presentable enough to post [sigh]. In afternoon, gave mom a card and took her for a ride around the countryside for mother's day. I think (and hope) she liked that.

Slept a couple more hours, woke up and lurk on e2 for a bit before watching Simpsons. Surfed e2 for another half hour. Watched X Files. Good episode, IMO. Nothing terribly fancy, but a solid story, some funny moments, and a cool ending. Liked it. What would you do if you had three wishes?

Returned to room, deciding not to watch the rerun. Listened to the antichrist while doing some spring cleaning (the one full of bs; no laughing now, nobody can prove anything). Once again, the room looks almost presentable. Expunged ancient bank statements and other financial documents, some of which dated back to the early 90s. God, I hate paper infestation.

Of course, I then decided to write a weekend ender rambling before bed, which more or less summarizes the events of the past two days. And there it is.

I still feel something more should be said. I guess this is what could be called a "downer" weekend. Hey, they can't all be conventions, rock shows, and car buying excursions, right? :)

The astute reader might ask if I did anything so intelligent as dig into the much lamented pile of unread books which have accumulated on the shelf in recent times, and if not, why? I did not. And why? Well, kind of hard to say. I guess it could be attributed to a shortened attention span, or mental laziness/exhaustion. I actually tried for a while yesterday, but I found my mind wandering so often, that it just seemed futile. The shortly segmented, tangential nature of sites like slashdot and everything just seem to fit my mental pace better on days like these. That, and there just seemes to be something about the medium of the computer monitor which holds my attention better than a page of paper. Chalk that up to my warped, modernish tv-fried brain.

Oh, and I also did laundry. Lotsa that.

[/me talks to bouncing after being paged. As in talk. Ya know, /usr/bin/talk. :) ]

[Then some email.]

Well, I guess some sleep would be in order. Tomorrow promises to be another big adventure, or something like that. So, I'll send this up, and run shutdown -h now on the brain. yep.
