I'm a mind-numbed idiot, part 2

Damn! It's a good thing I bothered to look six centimeters down at my memory/swap usage meter when I did. Had I typed another sentence, Netscape most probably would have run out of extra memory to waste and proceeded to crash, leaving all the important policy-making documents adrift in memory dump land. As it was, my system was practically much brought to a hault for five minutes after I pushed the submit button. Grrrrr.
So, anyway, I have gained -- through one day of cubicle deprivation in a boring lecture hall -- a new appreciation for the job I have. It's like an addiction, you know? "Must.... get... back... to... workstation.... check.... email.... fix.... bugs.... write..... javascript.... be..... productive...... listen.. to... office... chatter........ be..... mentored.... and.... taught.... to.... contribute..... to.... office.... chatter.... write..... more..... email..... fix..... more..... bugs.... figure.... out..... better.... improvements..... must..... RETURN!"
So anyway, I guess that's a good sign. I now know my place in the grand scheme of things. :)
Now, I'm off to go surfin... See if I can find any bitchin' web pages. Maybe eat a little something too. (That's one other good thing about such events. Today, at least, I got a really good free lunch, not to mention this cool tin of extra strong mints I have in front of me, bearing the "eSoft" logo on the cover.)
But speaking of free lunches, I got one of those yesterday too, didn't I? Why yes, I did. Despite a strong urge to do so, I will refrain from telling a story about a very funny incident that took place there, for fear that it might violate previously stated rule number 2. Let's just say there was a little, ahem, snickering involved. But in actuality, there wasn't. ;)
Wrap up statement: Live really ain't bad at all. In fact, it's pretty damn good. :)
