Bluring the Fine Line Between Absolute Frankness and Obsurd Satire

Madonna has said that anyone who watches her very often can easily tell that she spends half her time making fun of herself. She is clear about this. What everyone is left to wonder is: which half? When is she making fun of herself, and when is she totally serious? It is impossible to conclusively tell, and I don't think that even she knows nor does she want to.

You see, when you blur the line between satire and frankness, you begin to erase the distinction between right and wrong, fantasy and reality, and the question of the very nature of existence is brought to the forefront. Why? Because satire and frankness, right and wrong, and fantasy and reality are specifically human concepts. When you eliminate the limiting terms imposed on us by our nature, you can tap into a greater meaning, an understanding of the universe. But first, these notions must be erased from our minds. Since our memories are permanent, the best way to get rid of the concepts is to confuse them with one another to such a great degree as to yeild them irrelevant.

While this makes us lose touch with our ascribed human characteristics, it also allows us to know our true nature far better than we could have ever imagined. This is due the fact that once the old notions are erased, we get to create our own, and for each person to have his or own ideas of what human nature could and should be is far more rewarding than having a false nature, a lie, imposed upon us from the time we exit the womb. It allows us to release energies from within our soul we never dreamed were possible, because we never knew they existed.

There is a price for this utopia, however. In order to keep it, we must be constantly re-examining who we are and what we want to be. If I take what I am now, create a set of ideas and standards surrounding this idea, write them on a stone tablet, and come back and read them every day to reassure myself of what I am, I will lose my spontaneous quality. As humans, our very nature is forever dynamic, and if we at any time fail to acknowledge this, we lose sight of some of our potential.

So, every day for the rest of my life, when I get up in the morning, I am going to have to tell myself that I must reexamine and change, if necessary, all the things which I have become accustomed to. It will be like experiencing life for the very first time, whenever I feel the need. You could say I will always remain like a virgin.
