Winding Down

The past couple of days have seen my energy levels, alertness, the excessively heightened perceptual amplitude of the previous week (not even a whole week) gliding down with stunning rapidity. This is a good thing, I suppose; but still, a part of me wishes it could have lasted just a little bit longer.

Late Sunday afternoon as twilight set in, I walked from Sheridan to Wadsworth, with no particular destination in mind. I just wanted to be outside for a while. It was a beautiful walk. I ended up visiting Safeway, where I exercised my credit-worthiness to obtain what ended up being an excessive quantity of leaves (i.e. spinach), flowers (i.e. broccoli), a few other green things, and some nice big juicy deep red grapes.

Carrying it home, the weight of the plastic bag made me realize I had probably bought more than necessary, but I had wanted it to last. (Besides, more than half the weight consisted of the grapes, which have a high water content.) I snacked on the raw plant food as I walked, and found that it all tasted quite excellent -- highly unusual for me; usually I prefer some kind of dressing, salt, or something to accompany stuff like that. But not on this night. The spinach was especially flavorful.

I decided that the next phase during the coming months might be to find one or more local farmers' markets, so I can buy this stuff directly from the people who grow it.

Thoughts wandered through my head about venturing out to Rock Island for the evening, as I know that Elusis does sets there sometimes, and I seriously need to find another club scene that works for me. Onyx closing sucked. (I've noticed via the website that the Friday format at the place that replaced it has changed at least 3 times since the switch. This suggests to me that whatever they're doing probably isn't working all that well. Why couldn't they have just left a good thing alone?)

But ultimately, on that count, sanity prevailed. I saw from her website that Elusis probably wouldn't be going at all, and certainly wasn't going to DJ. I was already thinking it might be a little much for me anyway. Mentally, one can only fit so much into one weekend, and I was near capacity.

Instead, I stuck around and typed some more web content, read a bit, got sleepy, and concluded that I was done.

I slept mostly well, although I still woke up on Monday like a freakin fiend at 0700 with no alarm clock.

Monday morning/afternoon, scottgalvin.com and I had a good long talk, both in jabber and meatspace. Already documented.

Monday evening, I went to the Shambhala Center for meditation and class. Besides the good meditation and class (which I hadn't been to for several months), I saw somebody I knew there. That made it extra special.

Tuesday, the return of the crazy Oracle project reared its ugly head. In exchange for a bonus (which scott knows I'm going to hold him to this time), I journied down to the data center, met another IT guy, and we worked our mojo on the server.

After work, I spent about an hour wandering around trying to memorize my lines. At 20:00, I showed up at the Boulder Compound. Filming for Fences got underway. Most of my dialog didn't occur until the end of the evening. As the hour approached 23:00, I stumbled through the final paragraph of Moabyte gibberish, struggling to remember my lines, deliver a meaningful performance, and not fall asleep all at the same time. Eventually, something resembling passable came out.

I returned home, and immediately began to repay my debt to the World Bank of Sleep.

This morning, getting out of bed was a bit of a challenge, but somehow, I arose eventually.

As I typed this rambling, I've been munching on more of my green things. My content reading is so behind, I can't even keep up with yanthor.net anymore. I guess I wasn't the only one to suddenly feel inspired to post lots and lots and lots of stuff online. My bloglines are overflowing with new entries from all over the world.

Anyway, today I'll be a content little duck if I can just stick around here and work from Rygel for the remainder of the day, take a twilight walk, watch a new episode of Angel, and then check in for an extended stay in the land of unconscious.

Farmers Market

If you find a good farmer's market (or produce stand), let me know. I think one of the things I miss most about WA is the produce. There's nothing quite like Yakima tomatoes!

I remember those

I don't think I've seen so much awesome looking (and tasting) fruit since going to ya'lls wedding. The produce there was excellent.

One Farmer's Market
by Bitscape (2004-05-05 11:51)

Actually, I do know of one Farmer's Market in Boulder. I'm not certain of the exact schedule, but sometimes on Saturday they have one on 13th St between Canyon and Arapahoe. I once went there to help campaign for Howard Dean. I'd like to find something closer to here if possible though.

And a little googling reveals...

Colorado Farmers Markets.

Haha! The one in Westminster runs from May-October, Sundays 10am-4pm. I'm going to have to go try it next Sunday.

That was way too easy. (Unfortunately for Kiesa, it doesn't appear to list any for Louisville or Lafayette, but there must be something not too far. Maybe the Broomfield one?)
