Circa 20 minutes ago, I went to Best Buy thinking I'd probably just get the Xena set, since I am on a very limited budget these days, and spending more than $100 in a single week on dvds would psychologically qualify as "excessive".

To my happy surprise, the Xena Season 2 set was priced a nice bit cheaper than the season 1 set had been, and it was marked down to $44.99 during release week.

The Angel set was also marked down to the same price. Too tempting. (Though it appeared to be sold out.)

When a salesman asked me if there was anything I was looking for, I inquired about the Angel season 2 set, and he led me to another stack sitting on a table near the front of the store. 2 sets for < $100. Too good a deal to resist. (Besides, when the total including sales tax comes out to less than $100, I don't feel like I'm being a complete content glutton, even if I am.)

So now I find myself in possession of Season 2 of both Angel and Xena. All hail decreasing dvd prices.

If you think about it, that comes out to about $2 per episode, which almost approaches the cost of raw VHS media to tape them off the air, back when I used to do that sort of thing. Nutty.

I'll take high quality digital, commercial-free discs with special features and commentary tracks any day.
