More Info

Amidst this time of Matrix Reloaded celebration, on this night, I have watched this classic again. Reading over my previous log entries for this movie, there doesn't seem to be much to say that I didn't already write after previous viewings.

Though it is definitely Wachowski material, this movie makes no attempt to be as deep, profound, or revolutionary as The Matrix trilogy. In a way, the charm of Bound lies in its simplicity. A fairly straightforward plot, good solid characters, a strong dose of sexmagic, and a well executed storyline makes for a tight, fun movie.

(Sideline: Watching the Matrix Revisited documentary again last week, I found it amusing that the words "This is the sex scene. We're not cutting it." were included in the original Bound script. Those crazy Wachowskis...)

Though I only gave it 3.5 stars (4 stars is a rating reserved for the totally mind-blowing stuff, for which Bound doesn't quite qualify), I find that this is a good movie to dig out every year or so and watch again. Just when a few bits and pieces have become fuzzy through the fog of memory, watch it again, and enjoy as it all comes back.

Maybe someday, I'll even watch the funny commentary track again.
