As I was driving to work this afternoon, the local community radio station was reporting on the anti-war protests going on locally and around the world.

The main site for Colorado's protest was to be held in Colorado Springs. I would liked to attend personally. I was prevented mainly because, (a) I had to work, and (b) Colorado Springs is a bit of a long drive from here. However, I listened intently, as I considered myself to be there "in spirit".

Then, they interrupted the "regularly scheduled programming" (an anti-war speech) to jump to live coverage from the site of the protest. Apparently, according to the reporter on the scene, police were throwing tear gas into the crowd in an attempt to get them to disperse. People were being arbitrarily arrested, apparently just for being there. Details as to why were unclear at that point. Apparently, no violence had been committed by protesters, and police were not responding to questions.

At that point, I had stop listening to go in to work.

Naturally, after work tonight, I went online to see if I could garner any more info. Under slightly different circumstances, and I could have been one of those people being tear-gassed. (Is this really happening in America, the "land of the free?" Right here in Colorado?!?)

Google news search is very helpful. Rocky Mountain News coverage. SFGate on nation-wide events, including the Colorado Springs incident.

Meanwhile, I'm browsing all sorts of random stuff between writing this. Think I'll watch an Angel episode now.
