Email reply came back from recruiter just now. (Or rather, I am reading it just now. It was sent over 12 hours ago.)

This job does potentially look like something that would fit my skillset very well. "Experience creating community board websites... setting up either a comunity [sic] forum or some other kind of web-based application that uses a database (MySQL) backend and HTML/PHP on the frontend." MySQL, Perl, PHP, Apache, HTML. Check. (My MySQL-specific knowledge is a tad rusty these days, but I'm sure I can improvise.)

Downside: Only a month in duration.

I think I'll call the recruiter back pronto tomorrow morning.

Assuming this thing pans out, and they want me for the job, here are my options, as I see them:

  • Give two weeks notice at deli job, which would give me just enough time to be done there before starting this one. Work on web job for a month. Then, when the middle of March comes around....

    Step 3) ??????

    Step 4) Profit!

Yeah. Probably not the wisest idea.

  • Somehow manage to work on both jobs, and hope I don't burnout or explode.

This job is described as full time while it lasts, so that could be a bit tricky. Scenario: Arrive at $web_job at some ongodly hour in the morning, allowing me to be done in time to head to my king soopers evening shift. Work there till midnight. Sleep a couple hours, and wake up alert and refreshed at 5am. (haha) Rinse and repeat.

    Not a salivating prospect.

  • Arrange with deli manager to have my hours at the deli temporarily scaled back, or possibly even go on a temporary leave of absence for a month, and/or work out something with the web job to maybe do it part time for a longer duration instead of full time for a quick month.

This one sounds like the most ideal from my perspective, but I don't know how it would be on everybody else's end.

Ok, obviously I'm having the tendancy to count my chickens before the eggs have even been laid, given that I haven't been offered this job at all yet. I merely might be considered as a potential candidate. (And given the state of the economy, there very well could be 200+ other candidates all vying for it. But who knows?)

Still, it sounds promising.

Must.... wake up.... tomorrow morning... and... contact.... recruiter.... via phone......

Ok, time for a B5 episode before bed. I'm feeling rather stoked at the moment. Keepin it balanced. Over and out.
