Go.
My grand accomplishment for today: A load of laundry. Aren't I the overachiever?
Buffy was a new episode tonight, and I happened to see it. Goodie.
In the bad news department: Mom actually came over to dad's place this evening to tell me. He was gone when she arrived, and I was watching Buffy, but anyway... Grandma, having largely recovered from her previous problems, has now been diagnosed with lung cancer. A more complete diagnosis is yet to be forthcoming. Needless to say, mom is thinking about taking a trip out there in the near future, pending more news. Little else is known at this point.
bouncing arrives in Denver on Friday morning. We're going to go to the airport to pick him up.
This evening, I downloaded The Two Towers trailer. (Ya ya, I knew it's been out for months, but I somehow managed to not see it before, and felt like doing so tonight before the movie.) This gave me incentive to download and try out the new version of mplayer, which features sorenson support. After grabbing the required dlls and sticking them in the appropriate directory, it worked beautifully.
Looks like this means I can throw away apple's woefully inefficient and crappy quicktime player (run through crossover), previously the only way to view sorenson videos under linux. Their silly attempts to keep everyone locked on Windows/Mac in order to view movie trailers have finally failed completely. Haha!
But anyway... The Two Towers. I am now fully psyched for tomorrow's screening. (As a sidenote: Yes, it was quite trippy to hear the reorchestrated Requiem for a Dream score on that trailer. That alone makes it a unique viewing experience.)
At this point I'm thinking I'll aim to arrive at Colony Square at around 1400 tomorrow to enqueue myself, armed with a worthy supply of portable entertainment. Hopefully, this will be early enough to make sure I get a good seat. I don't anticipate Star Wars-esque 5 hour lines, mainly because the showing is a matinee, but I could be wrong. I guess we'll find out.
Hmmmm.... Maybe I should get there earlier than that, just to be safe. 1300? Maybe between 1300 and 1400. Yeah, that should do it.
Nothing else profound to say tonight, I'm afraid. That'll do.
