Birthday Celebration

I figure I had better a scribble little bit of content describing this event before more stuff happens, and it passes out of my immediate buffer. (As has occurred with a few other interesting events during the past few weeks and months.)
Yesterday, I journied to the Boulder Compound to attend the celebration of Jaeger's twenty second birthday. I left the Castle Lair shortly after 12:00 on Saturday, since there were going to be a couple of stops.
The first stop was Best Buy, to pick up the gift. I had done a little bit of preliminary investigation earlier in the week, and eventually decided upon what I believed would be an excellent present. (Or at least the best thing I could think of at the moment.) It helped that this time, I had little bit of advance time to think about it. My scramble to figure out a gift at last year's celebration turned out to be a bit lame.
When I arrived in Boulder, I was running slightly late for my second planned stop, but I decided to go ahead with it, since the start time of 13:00 was not a hard deadline. I journied westward to Canyon and 3rd street, where Tobias got a much-needed bath at his favorate and only washing area. (Tobias is such a picky car!)
From there, on to the Boulder Compound, with the delightful rhythms and melodies of The New 102.1 X pounding all the way. (No, we don't do product placement here.)
At the Boulder Compound, I met Zan Lynx at the driveway on the way in, and proceeded into the Compound, where the comic portraying a soybean stand-up comedian impersonating Canadian bacon was the thrill of the day. (Vegetarian humor, clipped from the Colorado Daily. Targeted especially for Boulder people.)
scottgalvin.com was the third and final guest who was scheduled to arrive, but it was decided that if we went ahead and started eating without him, it might trigger a quantum fluctuation which would cause him to show up. This turned out to be true.
As soon as everybody was munching down on lasagna, salad, and lentils, the doorbell rang, and the one and only scottgalvin.com entered, with tales of racing at 90 mph down I-36, being chased by flying snakes, and surviving the attack of the spiders. (Ok, I admit the snakes and I-36 were not part of the same narrative, but... well... It just works, okay?)
Going for a little brevity now...
After the delicious dinner (not to be confused with Delicious Dish [[tm] despite being an SNL ripoff]), we hung out for a while, and eventually went for a hike up Green Mountain. The entire party of 8 squished into C3PO, putting it 1 person over capacity, and went halfway up flagstaff Mountain to hike.
The hike proceeded well, with much exercise for all members (yes, some of us are very out of shape), and some really nutty footage shot by Captain Logan at the summit.
We proceeded back down the mountain, first on foot, then in the vehicle.
At the Boulder Compound, scottgalvin.com announced that he had an urgent matter to attend to, and departed. (Yes, it was urgent. All were agreed on that. Trust me.)
We sung happy birthday, ate chocolate cake, and drank Vanilla Coke. A unique and interesting flavor of the popular beverage, which none of us had sampled before. Although it's certainly no Josta, I found it appealing.
Jaeger opened his presents, which included (but not limited to) a strobe light, a gift certificate to a mountain sporting goods store, an out of print book by "Stephen Bury", a Memento DVD ("Limited Edition" 2 disc version), and... another book whose subject I don't recall.
Ok, I sort of half screwed up on my gift this year. Not realizing that Jaeger already possed a copy of the original Memento DVD release, I got him the 2 disc Limited Edition version. Doh. Well, he said he still might be interested in some of the special features, but if he would prefer something else, we can get it exchanged. His option. (Hmmmm... maybe the good old gift card is a better / more convenient idea in some cases.)
After the gift opening, the next item on the agenda was to watch a movie. Jaeger presented 3 movies that he currently has on hand from netflix, and suggested that those present could vote on them. We started with a simple "one person gets one vote for one movie" scenario, but this proved to be far too simple, and not nearly flexible enough.
Since it was the 1 year anniversay of the Phest Fest, which featured the most convoluted and bizarre mathetical method for democratically choosing a movie in history, something even stranger was required. This time, the voting involved casting fractional decimal votes, allowing precesion down to the one-hundredth of a vote.
In short. The three choices were: Amelie, Black Hawk Down, and Impostor. Impostor won.
Zan Lynx, myself, Kiesa, and Jaeger watched Imposter, and then hung out for a couple hours in the Boulder Compound living room discussing all manner of things that 4 geeks would discuss during the wee hours of the morning.
At what must have been around 0230 Sunday morning, Zan Lynx and I departed for our respective residences, him with the remaining Diet Coke from the celebration, and me with the Vanilla Coke, courtesy of Jaeger.
I added a few comments into the raging debate now underway in the Content Collective, and got some sleep. (I've seen the additional comments which have since appeared in response to mine, and intend to add more to this fascinating discussion later. Religion can be a dangorous topic, which we might be once again proving. Oh well.)
The End. Gotta go. Peace.
