Alright, so this one's getting typed up a little late.
(As in, over a week later.) Well, we went to IMAX to
watch the reconstruction of the Alamo battle. Since
there were no survivors on the Texan side, nobody knows
what really happened, but this movie tries its
best to paint a picture of the events that transpired.
Well, sort of. It does so with an extra large double dipping of
cheesy dialog, emotional manipulation ("aw look;
he's holding the hand of a child before going off to
battle, therefore that must be one of the good guys"),
and lofty platitudes.
There was quite a bit of nifty IMAX-scale photography of the
Texas landscapes, on which the Alamo was recreated.
And sitting in an IMAX theater is just fun, even
if the content on the screen is obviously targeted mostly for
J. Random Tourists, as opposed to those wanting a
serious movie. I suppose it did have some educational
value as well. It was a fun adventure.
"Get your Alamo Action Figures at the gift shop now!"
(No, it didn't literally say that, but it almost could
have. And there were Alamo action figures for
sale in the gift shop. I saw them. Hahaha.)
