This is ridiculous. There as been a buttload of potential content worth writing about over the past week, but I have found myself too busy / lazy / distracted to write any of it. Now it's Friday again, and I'm chillin for a bit. (And no, this is not some silly SNL skit. At least I hope not.)

I have proved that it can be done. A drive, direct from San Antonio to the Castle Lair in one sitting, occassionally stopping only for gas and bladder relief, and never more than 5 minutes at a time. The theory is no longer just a theory. Whew!

I am now in the state of Texas, somewhere in the norther portion. Somewhat daurting to think that even though I am in the state of my destination, I've barely even covered half the distance of the journey.

After getting off work at noon, I spent far to long doddling around town getting silly little odds and ends done. But now, everything is packed and ready to go out the door. (I realized again while putting together travel music that I have accumulated altogether too many cds. It's insane. But a significant portion of them are going with me.)

I would agree with Salon. Yes, that was one hell of a season finale last night.

The Enterprise finale tonight was... well... kinda lukewarm, IMO.

Meanwhile, Bitscape will be heading to San Antonio tomorrow...

Damn you, IFC. Damn you.

Good God, is this the week of weepy tv finales or what? Last night, it was the X files. Tonight, on a whim, I tune into the middle of the final Ally McBeal, a show I haven't watched this year or last, and guess what? All the characters are on the verge of bursting into tears.

Here's my theory: The people doing the real crying this week are those running the FOX network. They weep at the sight of the last worthwhile remnants of this once-great television empire slipping away, leaving nothing but "reality" crap about Alaskan bachelors in their wake. See Simpsons last night? ;)

Fill me with this moment of Zen, but not Zen.

Is it a good idea to try to write this now, or save it for tomorrow after I've had some rest? At the moment, I am feeling quite exhausted. My ears are ringing like a fucking fire alarm. When I close my eyes, I can still see the flashing strobes illuminating the crowd, imprinting mini-portraits of the action into the visual memory at several iterations per second. Spotlights swirling all around, casting their magic over the scene.

Obviously, I've been out at the club. What a great place!

My ears totally feel like they've been plugged up with wads of cotton, but they aren't. I suspect the ringing will continue through the night.

At work, another week goes by, faster than light. Episode II came out at 12:01 Thursday morning (my movielog is dated correctly according to movielog policy). Last night, I found out that one of my uncles I barely knew has died recently. And naturally, rage has gone into another outage.

OMG, that was awesome! Yoda is my hero. Though, unlike many people, I loved Episode I, I think I would have to agree with Mr. Zan Lynx. This one topped the first.

As mentioned in the previous rambling 3 days ago, he who is known by the content solutions handle Drizzt came to visit the Castle Lair for the weekend, after having endured 2 days of testing in Denver.

Upon Drizzt's recommendation, I watched this despite the many bad reviews that came out upon its release. It was better than I would have expected after all the reviews. Though not perfect, it was a lot of fun.

Now with the DVD release, I get to enjoy this brilliant gem again. This time, I was joined by my guest for the weekend, Drizzt. I will repeat a word he used a word to describe it -- an endorsement with which I wholeheartedly agree: "Genius."

This is a movie that embodies everything that is good about the superhero genre. With Tobey Maguire (of Pleasantville fame) playing the lead role, I was totally drawn into it from beginning to end. Far from being a brainless effects-for-the-sake-of-effects shoot'em'up, this is a superhero film that really cares about its characters. If you have even half a heart, you will too.

After work, I drove to find Drizzt at the expected location. He had completed his testing, and was ready to kick back and party.

After my little evening nap tonight, I began efforts to bring the Castle Lair into a somewhat hospitable state. What a mess! Gotta "impress the guest".

Alright. Tonight's Buffy is a mouthful. In order to satisfy the curious (and because I just like to write about this stuff), I'm going to ramble a bit about it right now while it's all fresh. But I might have some other stuff to say on other topics too. So, in an effort not to pull a "Lone Gunmen are Dead", this rambling will not be presented in the order is written. I'll write about tonight's Buffy first, but then move the spoiler comments to the very bottom, after the other stuff, so people who just want to read non-spoilerific things about my life can do so, and those who are interested in my thoughts on Buffy can continue to the end (but I will write that part first). Mmmmkay?

Perhaps a more important question to ask is, "Am I pissed off? If so, why?"

Since I seem to inexplicably be wide awake early today, I shall use this moment to type the rambling I was waaay to sleepy to type 4 hours ago. (Probably because my body doesn't know what the hell to make of this odd combination of stimuli I have been feeding to it.)

Fuck it. I wasn't really planning to publish this. Just a little mindless insomniac brainstorming that wasn't going to leave the confines of this enclosure. That's how it started.
