Every scene is like an image out of a dream; sometimes beautiful, sometimes horrifying, but always riveting to the senses. A magnificant tale of another realm, lost in the recesses of consciousness.

For my second viewing of this movie, after eating supper together, I saw it with a group of old friends who I hadn't seen for years. (names undisclosed, protecting the innocent, blah blah blah.) When we arrived a half hour before showtime, the theater was already quite full, but we did manage to get a seat near the back / top (stadium style) in the center. While farther away from the screen than optimal, it worked well for taking in all the action. Having now seen it from the two extremes: close in, and way near the back, I shall of course have to go for a third screening, and arrive 5 hours early so I can get a seat dead center. Experience it from all perspectives.

I think I enjoyed this viewing even more than the first, due in no small part to the better seating position. It's just a beautiful film to take in. A movie with the ability to hold an entire auditorium packed with people spellbound for 3 solid hours is something special. Frodo, Strider, Galfalf... all wonderfully acted.

I can hardly wait to see the rest. Whether I read the books first, or save all the suspense for the next 2 screenings is something I haven't yet decided. Regardless of which, I shall relish every moment.
