Noooooo, not another homonym! I'm not even going to try to define this one.
This morning, Zan Lynx and I ate something resembling breakfast. For some reason, watching Blade Runner had inspired both of us with the thought that following it up with Total Recall would be a good idea.
We ate something resembling a breakfast, and started watching the Total Recall disc. A few minutes into the movie, my hardware (i.e. the processor inside my head) started to have other ideas. Like a laptop with a low battery, my brain started involuntarily dipping into suspend mode, and was subsequently revived momentarily whenever a gunshot was fired onscreen.
I told Zan Lynx that I was going down for regeneration, and he could watch the rest of the movie if he wanted to. He said that he was actually feeling very tired too, and wanted to return to his residence to rest. So the viewing was prematurely aborted, leaving open the theoretical possibility that it might be resumed in the future. Zan Lynx departed, leaving Gladiator at the Castle Lair to be retrieved later.
I slept until noon, and lounged around the lair for most of the afternoon. The activities consisted of collective farming, watching X Files on tv, and dreaming up possible improvements to the Lounge code.
Another 3 hour nap came as the sun went down, then I arose to watch some more X Files, eat frozen pizza, and respond Zan Lynx's voice mail message.
Zan Lynx arrived at the Lair to pick up Gladiator, and hung out for a while to surf the web while more X Files episodes aired.
A saw Zan Lynx surfing to a site featuring Quake 3 screenshots, comparing the anti-aliasing effects of various bleeding edge video cards. He tried running Q3 to see if he could notice the effects with his GeForce3 card, but neither of us were perceptive or picky enough to notice these nuances unless they were displayed side by side and explicitly pointed out.
This little demonstration made me feel like playing some Q3, which I haven't done in ages, so I challenged Zan Lynx to a game after the episode we were watching finished. (It was one X Files episode I had actually never seen before; filmed in all black and white, it was an amusing homage to classic 30's style mad scientist horror movies set in a surreal trailer trash town.)
After updating Argo's version to be network compatible with the newer release running on Zan Lynx's machine, we played Q3 for nearly an hour. Being totally out of practice, I sucked royally, but it was fun anyway.
After the Quake3 game, Zan Lynx packed up his machine to depart. I ventured outside the lair for the first time all day to help Zan Lynx transport his machine, and found the air chilly but refreshing.
Now, they're airing the episode in which Frank Black made his final appearance on the X Files the season after Millenium was cancelled. It's almost over now. Jordan has just been reunited with her father. The New Year's Eve ball drops.
Signing off.
