I just returned from the Boulder Compound, where Jaeger's 21st birthday party was held (although his actual birthday occurred 3 days go). A bunch of folk gathered 'round, ate lasagna, shared many laughs, and watched Jaeger open his presents.
(I sort of winged it when it came to a gift, and grabbed the footage I had shot during the Phest Fest on the way out of the house, and told Jaeger he could copy it macrovision-free. Having taken way too much merry time writing web content the afternoon away, there was no time left to shop, which was slightly embarrassing, since it was obvious I was, um, winging it. Oh well.)
We then watched Sneakers. All remaining guests except me took their leave during the course of the film. For me, watching it was a blast from the past, since I haven't seen it since the theatrical release many, many moons ago.
It featured an interesting property which characterized many early 90s action and suspense films as I remember them. Although I can't think of any other specific examples right now, I know they exist. That is, the villian has the most profound, interesting, thought provoking, and sensible ideas of all, but is still the villian by virtue of doing "bad" things, (To varying degrees, the "bad" actions are artificially plot-driven devices, not directly connected with the character's own core attributes.)
Interesting. Perhaps someday I should put together a real research paper about the topic, instead of splattering random, unconvincing bits of incoherent drivel, on this, the world wide web.
But that day is not today. I require sleep, and lots of it, but I'll settle for 7 hours worth. Starting...
