When Worlds Collide

Today was a sushi day. This means that despite attempts to curtail the amount of time we spend journeying to Boulder, ordering, eating the unique delicacies, and journeying back, lunch still manages to last in excess of 2 hours between departure and return time.
Today, B and several of his coworkers left at 1100 in an attempt to beat the lunch rush, and arrived at the legendary Pearl Street very quickly, by 1115. Unfortunately, fate seemed to be against us. The chosen restaurant did not open until 1130. So we decided to wander around for a few minutes, and visit the Boulder Bookstore.
In a rare event of happenstance, while browsing around the first level of the bookstore, B thought he recognized someone, and did a double take. Indeed, it was a familiar character from somewhere or another. Just for the hell of it, we shall refer to this person as "ä".
B decided that if his coworkers had no objections, he would invite ä to join them for lunch. Everyone was agreeable, and ä apparently found the idea intriguing enough to accept. And so, after ä made his purchase, they left the bookstore, and B introduced ä to D, E, and G.
Worlds collide when those who call each other by online handles and conspire to make really awful scifi, and those who work in something resembling a corporate workplace, meet and all eat lunch at a table together. lol.
(A Seinfeld episode comes to mind, but I can't quite place which one or the exact plot of the episode itself. Something to do with Jerry, George, and Susan. Duuuuh. Mindblank.)
Well, the sushi was quite good, although the service was quite odd. The person who was initially going to wait on us mysteriously disappeared after the appetizer, and from then on, various random employees of the restaurant would eventually come around to do such things as take our orders, bring out food, refill our waters, and later bring out an item that had been forgotten the first time around. Oh well. Such is the way of the sushi adventures. The food itself was quite excellent. (Although no truly exciting oddities such as shrimp heads occurred this time.)
After an excessive amount of waiting around for the wait staff, we all eventually got our food, and after more waiting, our bill. (It probably doesn't help that we typically take a great deal of time to initially decide what we each want. But it could be said that that, too, is part of the adventure.) After the meal, ä parted company, and the rest of us went back to the office post-1300 so we could be good little corporate drones for the rest of the day.
