Where, oh where does the time go?

Agent Harrison, is it? What, oh what is the world coming to?
Re-gifted. The X Files makes a Seinfeld reference. Again, I say: What, oh what is the world coming to?
Sunday does seem to be the day of dreams. I had a couple strange ones myself. Given their nature, combined with my sparse, fragmented memory, I'm not sure any of them would make such great content for today though.
Oh, alright. Maybe a little bit off of the tail end of one.
I opened my eyes, got out of bed, and sat in my chair on front of Argo. I needed to type about the dream I had just had! I opened up my ramblings, and into a familiar vi session.
I had to think of a title. MUST think of a title. All the content was brimming at the edge of my head. The dream I had had...
Driving around in the eastern states. The unexpected stop at the Atlanta office. The phone call I had received there, which made my gut sink. I had been informed that tomorrow was to be my last day on the job at the preschool. Then I would be out of a job. So the dot com layoffs had hit close to home after all. Too close to home.
Mom was very distressed when I told her. We went to some strange grocery store with bouncing on the east coast.
That dream hadn't really made much sense. I didn't even work at the preschool anymore, but I was being laid off from it? And the Atlanta office closed months ago. And what was this vacation all about in the first place anyway?
But I really had to transcribe it, because it would make good content for my web page. I kept trying to think of a title for the rambling. I typed a bunch of really long gibberish, but it never quite made sense. I had to go back and delete words; fix grammatical errors.
Graphical titles started appearing. Odd puns that nobody would ever get. I don't think even I got them. I had to get on with this, so I could get on with typing the content of the dream before I forgot it.
Exhausted, my mind slipped away.
A few cycles later (it seemed), I woke up, looked around the room. Was I really here this time? The objects looked solid enough. Guess so.
Looked at the clock. 16:35. Wow, I managed to sleep almost the whole afternoon away.
I got out of bed, sat in front of Argo, and considered some vague memory of a dream I had had. I shook it off, and proceeded to play some more Alpha Centauri.
...
You know things have gotten ridiculous when your dreams start consisting of typing on the web about dreams you had.

From the shake-your-head-hopelessly department: I ponder whether it's really a good idea to relate this one, because it is potentially quite disparaging to the image of the company I work for. Well, I wouldn't be the one doing the disparaging. Marketing pretty much manages to do that all on their own.
Alright, enough of my prattle. On Friday, all employees were given a copy of the shirt that is currently being passed out to various patrons and other folks who happen by. Now, it was really a very nice gesture to give everyone a free shirt, which is why I'm a bit ambivalent about saying this. But the truth is that I would be embarrassed to wear it, both for myself and for my company. Why?
The words printed on the back:
"Take the fun out of hacking."
Followed by the company name and logo.
[Bitscape shakes head once again.]
No further comment necassary.
...
In actuality, I did have a lot of fun hacking various things at work last week. Although it can never surpass the mighty perl, php is definitely a cool language.
That was random.
Oh, and from the games department. I guess I would do well to post a comment about this here. Of the two games I got last week, Tribes 2 wins the disappointment award. Although the game play does seem (theoretically) very cool, the frame rate and graphics quality is, in a word, pathetic. I guess my Athlon 750, 128 megs of ram, and Matrox G400 just aren't enough for it. It's quite odd, because the graphics don't really look any better than other games like Quake 3 or Heavy Gear 2, but the frame rate performance is just sad in comparison. Maybe it's cause they use larger maps for the land areas. I dunno.
On the other hand, Alpha Centauri has proven to be quite an addictive preoccupation. All the spooky futuristic technologies are enough to make my head spin. Impact Racer. Hehe.. Yeah..
Okay, time to lay off the Beavis and Butthead crap on the jukebox at work. I think it has adversely affected my psyche.
Alright, that's enough rambling for tonight children. Ra ra.
