Weekend. Here. Now. At long last. Very good.

Without further verbage, let's try something similar to what I did last weekend.

Things I PLAN to do this weekend:

  • Get Jaeger's satellite map code integrated into the Content Collective.
  • Do laundry. Well, actually I do at least some of that on most weekends anyway. But there's a bunch that really needs to be done now, so... I'll do it. (When? Tomorrow, of course. :)
  • Straighten out the Lair. It's not too bad right now. In fact, the trash buffer isn't really living up to its name at all lately. But if I don't take care of the creeping dead tree matter soon, it will become a big deal. Better to get it out of the way before that happens.
  • Reread, and do exercises from at least one chapter (the first chapter doesn't count) of my When, Why, ...If book. Regular readers with memories greater than a month might remember it. I might discuss this topic in a little more detail in a minute. Then again, I might not. :)
  • See a movie. Tonight. I haven't decided on a title, a medium, or venue just yet. But I do know one thing: A good film would hit the spot perfectly on this night. Perhaps I was inspired by one coworker's lunch talk of planned evening activies tonight. In any case, it sounds like a good idea.
  • Speaking of lunch talk... Try out the xine movie player. It came strongly recommended by another coworker at lunch today. Sounds pretty damn awesome. I'll have to give it a whirl. (Oooh, and I should delve deep into the bash 2 documentation and look into that rumored customized context sensitive auto tap completion feature too. But I'm veering from the topic at hand.)
  • Speaking of things which start with X, gotta get my fix tomorrow night. 2230. The warrior and the bard. (Or, as my brother likes to say, "The Ambiguously Lesbian Duo.") And in tomorrows case, something involving the God of War, if one is to judge by the title. First new episode in over a month. I will be in front of the television. Guaranteed.
  • Um... Announce my new domain (which at this time does nothing but redirect people to an already well-known location)? Guess I just did that, so....

Astute readers may have noticed that there was nothing in that list about a company party. So yes, the decision was indeed made on Monday morning. I guess that means the secrecy is over, if ever there was any secrecy.

Ultimately, making the decision turned out to be fairly easy, once I found an appropriate algorithem to use. The algorithem was this: "All things being equal, which choice most likely to yield me more happiness (whatever that is)?" Of course, given that the terms loosely defined, and there are always many unknown factors, finding an answer with 100% guaranteed accuracy is impossible. Therefore, at such times, one must fall back on the words of the great Goddess Tori Amos:

"Don't let them tell you that the mind is greater than the heart. That is a trap. The mind is very tricky. I don't trust my mind. It's really good, but I don't trust it."
--Tori Amos

Viola!

Okay, I admit it. Those last couple paragraphs were just a bunch of totally convoluted BS that I churned out right now on the spot. It had nothing to do with what I was thinking when I made the decision. It just seemed like it would sound good.

Is THIS what we call "content"? :)

...

And DAMN am I glad the weekend is here. An exhausting week, to say the least. But not without reward, I suppose. (And I refer here to the intrinsic reward which comes from knowing you've accomplished something, not the little slips of green stuff, although that comes in very handy too.)

Mmmmm.... Getting to more specifics on the plans for tonight, I'm thinking... Video Station. DVD. Pepsi. Pizza. Delivered. (Or take out?) Okay, now I know for sure. I was influenced by the talk at lunch today. (And I highly doubt that the person who made the comments reads this web page, but you never know for sure...)

Alright. I think the course is set. Time to make it happen. Tobias, here I come.
