Recap and New Year thoughts

Well, the trash buffer is pretty much as full as before, and the shelves... well, they're partially arranged.
Before syncing the previous rambling to Rage, I spent nearly an hour throwing together an extremely rough version of the new pre-display tag parser. It was enough to do the images I made. Should've taken significantly less time to code what I did, but you know how these things go. Ironing out silly regex bugs and all. I'll almost certainly be expanding and refining my pre-display tag language in the near future.
Ride on
Ride on through the night
Ride on
There are visions
There are memories
There are echoes of thundering hooves
There are fires
There is laughter
There's the sound of a thousand doves
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
In the velvet
Of the darkness
By the silhouette of silent trees
They are watching
They are waiting
They are witnessing life's mysteries
Ride on through the night
Ride on
Ride on through the night
Ride on
Cascading stars on the slumbering hills
They are dancing as far as the sea
Riding o're the land, you can feel its gentle hand
Leading on to its destiny
Ride on through the night
Ride on
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
Take me with you
On this journey
Where the boundries of time are now tossed
In cathedrals of the forest
In the words of the tongues now lost
Find the answers
Ask the questions
Find the roots of an ancient tree
Take me dancing
Take me singing
I'll ride on till the moon meets the sea
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
Ride on
Through the night
Ride on
And so the tone for the evening is set.
Now, before I get ahead of myself (or have I already), a brief mini recap summary of the Millennial Party last night.
Boulder Compound: Shortly after I had finished typing the fest summary like a madman (in which I forgot to mention that I played several Q3 matches against Zan Lynx, all of which I lost pathetically; we're not even in the same league, I was lucky to get a frag in edgewise, even after he set himself at a handicap of 75, if that says anything; nevertheless, the games were most enjoyable)... after the fest rambling, we all went upstairs and ate chocolate fondue, and more guests arrived. Mmmmmm...
(Actually, one of the other guests arrived prior to the rambling, which was part of the reason the rambling took so long -- I kept getting into conversations with him about various fun things such as DVD audio systems, one of which he has also acquired recently)
A few minutes later, all attendees did indeed gather as planned to watch the classic film: 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Sentiments expressed by Jaeger's younger brother were very similar ones I recall having when I first watched the movie years ago. (He does actually have a handle, but I forgot what it is, and strangely enough, Jaeger does not use this handle to reference him on his web page; "Jaeger using a real name in favor of a handle? What is this world coming to?") After having read the book... Where are all the missing scenes, especially toward the end? lol.
After the movie ended, it was just a few minutes before midnight. Jaeger connected his dad's notebook's video adapter to the tv, and ran the binary countdown clock Zan Lynx had coded the night before. Everyone began to count as the bits dwindled lower.

...
The new Millennium had begun.
After much celebration, things began to dwindle down. Some of the festers headed back down to the basement. I took the opportunity to copy all of Farscape season 1 and some of season 2 from Humblik's burned cd collection onto Argo's hard drive. Mmmm... I knew when I bought it that drive I would do something with those 40 gigs. I didn't know exactly what at the time, but I knew from experience that a seemingly impossible-to-fill amount space would come in very useful eventually. Ha ha ha.
As the cd copying neared its finish, Jaeger's female parental unit reminded him (and us) that Jaeger had a long drive ahead tomorrow (technically today -- as in he's probably been on the road for nearly 12 hours at the time of this writing), and it was time to wrap things up.
I finished the copying, gathered my supplies into a much more cohesive state than they had been at the beginning of the fest, went outside to find Tobias's hull thoroughly covered in a layer of ice, started him warming, carried out several loads, found that by the time everything was loaded all the ice had happily melted, said parting words, and headed into the night.
Back at the Louisville Compound, I was finding myself quite ready for sleep. Once everything was safely back in the warm (but extremely messy) Lair, I crashed.

This seems like a good stopping point for this one. I still have more to ramble about though. I shall return briefly.
