Surfin around using the brand new Mozilla 0.7 release...
Which I managed to download a few hours ago before the Slashdot announcement went out. Saw it in my Mozillazine box, and said, "Woohoo!"
I had actually skipped the 0.6 release. Up until this evening, I had still been using M18 for all my browsing. I kept a copy of the "official" (read: bloated and unpolished) version of Netscape 6 around for anything requiring https. (For some reason, the downloadable PSM module thingee never seemed to work for me.) Now, Mozilla's got SSL in the main tree, so I guess I can throw that away. Hahaha!
Most obvious thing immediately upon first loading: The font on the bookmark toolbar has changed. Larger now. And the color is... different. I like it.
Oh, and in the frames (and the people who hate them) department, in addition to the old "Open Frame In New Window" standby, we now have "Show Only This Frame". Fills up the current window with whichever frame you right clicked on. Nice. And almost so simple, you wonder why they never thought to do it before.
The slick new browser technology of the week. We are indeed living in a rich time for software releases. XFree86 4... Gimp 1.2.... Linux 2.4.... Mozilla 0.7...
Yahaha.
(Yes, technically the Mozilla release isn't stable, but... it just rocks!)
So, in the Bitscape's Life department...
Arrived home from work today, feeling rather exhausted and depressed. Read my Slashdot. Surfed around. Grabbed new Mozilla. Went to sleep. Must've gone to sleep for... what? 3 hours? Then woke up at 2120.
Now here I am. 3 parts surf. 1 part ramble.
Not quite asleep. Not quite awake.
ALRIGHT, that is just SICK.
Theeeemes. For some reason, these crazy downloadable things never seemed to work for me in previous versions. Guess what? This time, a quick click, a few seconds of download, a trip into preferences, and an instant new look.
I'll resist the temptation to post gratuitous screenshots, since people who are into those can just as easily go to the above link.
...
Content, content. Do I have any content? Not really. In fact, I think the only reason I even started this rambling was to rave about the new Mozilla. That's reason enough, I think.
This evening, when I got home, I noted that I had new email at my festing.org account. (BTW, in case it wasn't obvious, I can also be reached at my other, new domain. The address should be very easily guessable. I ought to put my pgp key back on this site in an obvious place again too.) When I saw what it actually was... bleah. Spam from fatbrain. I THOUGHT I had opted out of that shit when I ordered from them. 90% sure. So don't go beating down at their doors just yet. Morons. Don't they realize that sort of stuff just pisses people off? Grrr....
Well, I guess I'll let that be my "content" for tonight. Signing off.
