I'll start by saying this: I'm warming up to agent Doggett. There.
[Bitscape leaves the room to get some more crackers to put into his soup.]
Canned soup for me! Ha ha! But no soup for you.
But it's a long hard road out of here.
No code work on the collective recently. Decided it was time to take a little break from it last week, and then the relative semi-downage of the whole festing.org family sort of acts as a demotivator. Perhaps one of these days, I'll do what I've been thinking about for a little while, and grab Argo a domain (or two) of her own. Hmmmm...
Content to post regarding this weekend.... Hah! What content?
Spent most of the time sitting around on my lazy ass, (re)watching various DVDs/DVD commentaries in my collection, and finishing up my monster week+ game of CivCTP. Actually, I had set the map on the "Gigantic" size setting. That's bigger than the huge. Geez, it took forever to find and flush out all those scattered little Thai, English, and Irish villages while listening to and intermittendly watching the various audio commentaries on Fantasia and Fantasia 2000.
After the game was finally won, with fusion tanks and spy planes crawling around every crevice of the damn map, and my country the only one left standing, I took a deep breath, and thought, "My god! What a frickin' waste of time THAT was."
And then proceeded to start (but not finish) a couple games with a map on the "Small" setting. Gotta go through withdrawl graudally, ya know? Kind of like a depressurization chamber.
Damn, those Fantasia movies are awesome though. One must simply marvel at all the great work that was put into them.
Well, I also made a tiny bit of progress on the straightening my room project today, mentioned in Friday's rambling. A tiny bit. lol. Very tiny. But a bit.
In standard room cleaning tradition, I put on one of my Hercules discs to keep my mind from becoming overly flooded with the negative downers of the enormous mess, and proceeded to straighten the mess while I watched. In this case, I estimate about 5% of the time was spent actually straightening the mess, and the other 95% consisted of pausing to watch the action. Hercules and the Amazon Women made for tv movie, followed by The Lost Kingdom made for tv movie.
Went to "lunch" with the family today shortly after 1400. We went to Wahoo's, which is located adjacent to the "Thee of Lou" (known to the rest of the world as the Mann Colony Square 12). Strike that. It's not Mann anymore. Somebody else bought it from them, I think. I forget what the hell it's called now. Doesn't matter anyway.
Anyway, just seeing that spot again came as a bit of shock. Shows how many ages it's been since I've been to a movie there. At one time, I went to see shows there on at least a weekly basis. Not much recently though. All the buildings that had sprung up directly adjacent to the theater, with shops, restaurants, and stuff. A Subway. A Pappa John's pizza. I recall there being nothing but grass around that theater not so long ago. Wild.
Came home after lunch. Took a nap. Woke up shortly after 1900. Decided that there's some stuff in my life that has been kind of sucking. But being only vaguely defined, it often only manifests consciously as a general "this existence sucks" feeling, without any way to do anything about it, leading me to take long jaunts of do-nothing escapism. Perhaps if I can pinpoint what might be behind that suckage, it could be a first step toward figuring out how to improve matters.
So I opened vi in a non-rambling mode, and started attempting to identify what I see as problems with various facets of my life. Then, typed out a few wild ideas for possible solutions to each. Nothing I'm actually going to do just yet. Some would involve ongoing changes to daily lifestyle routine. Changing habits in day-to-day activities over a long arc without some kind of external entity involved is something I historically don't do very well at all. I know this about myself. So I don't want to say, "In an effort to improve such-and-such, I'm going to start doing things this way each day." And then two weeks later, have it all but forgotten. Better to be honest.
So anyway, these items I've drafted. I'll think about them for a while. Possibly add to them. Some may or may not make it into the next set of New Year's Resolutions. We'll see.
...
Hey, just now, doing the "surf the web between rambling thoughts" thing, I seem to have encountered information leading me to believe that the Princess Mononoke DVD release is coming.... this Tuesday!?! Very cool.
Yawn. The soup seems to be having the intended effect. To bed. Sleep. Let's just hope I don't see any freaky dude with the third eye in his forehead creeping out of the shadows.
If there is a hell, I'll see you there.
