End Of Long Weekend.

Real. Ah. Having trouble forming complete sentences. Oh well. Too full.

So anyway, toward the end of my last rambling, mom came home with... guess what? Her new car. A Nissane. No kidding.

She took the family out to eat, and .... wow, that dessert was bigger than I expected.

And now, I try to form some semblence of a rambling, and finding it not so easy. Something about having that much stuff in your stomach, combined with the fact that it's past bedtime, and I have to get up in the morning.

And this music I'm now listening to.... Very trippy. I won't even admit the artist. (And no, it's not the Antichrist of BS, but nearly as bad, probably.)

Today, as I dug through piles of junk, I decided for certain that it's high time to get underway with the project of encoding my entire cd collection into bits on my hard drive -- using Ogg Vorbis format. Who cares if the whole rest of the world has never heard of it? (Except maybe a few diligent slashdot readers.) I ran Linux when every other PC in the dorm was (to my knowledge) running Windows. I, along with a few other arguably off-kilter, impulsive geeks, switched my keyboard layout to Dvorak, which I now use continuously. So goddammit, I'm going to use Ogg Vorbis to encode my music! Mediocrity for the sake of compatibility be damned.

Now, to the promised festing report. Well, it was pretty much a standard modern semi-classic style fest. bouncing, Jaeger, and myself, with our respective computers in their traditional locations. Although I did bring both Dagobah and Argo. I was going to leave Dagobah in the Lair and access it via the network, but since bouncing forgot to bring his extra-long cable, networking to the Lair became problematic. So it just seemed simpler to bring it all up. Had the DSL been alive, we certainly would've taken more pains to get it all connected. Without it, there didn't seem to be much point.

The three of us worked on our respective projects. Me, this web page (new look to be refined and uploaded when I get bandwidth again). Jaeger has now apparently become the de facto maintainer of the once abandoned FreeTrade project. He programmed on that. I'm scared to even look at code that I wrote that long ago. One of these days maybe. bouncing worked on... odd things. A Slashdot parody page of some sort, and presumably other new developments for his page. Oh yeah, and his new web development book.

On Sunday, in an effort to get a Q3 game going, Jaeger attempted to assist bouncing in getting the 3d drivers on his Voodoo working, since they both have Voodoo cards, and Jaeger was successful in getting his working. That was unsuccessful. Doh!

Well, I guess that summarizes the fest. Had I typed it during or immediately after, and without late night rush, I probably could've embellished better. That's what I get for procrastinating the rambling. But you see, it's really the fault of US Pest, cause if the DSL line had been up, I would have been more inspired to write immediately. Such is the way of things.

(Ok, so I could've typed it during and used Jaeger's dialup to upload. But I didn't. So there.)

And why am I going on about this? Good question. Don't ask. lol. Too crazy.

Ok, that's all for tonight. I will now go shit a bit, read a bit, and sleep a bit. Yes.
