Yes, after being down for over 24 hours. Gotta hate those downtimes. Had to re-import the whole db, or everything that uses large objects, at any rate. Somehow, the referential integrity was lost in the migration, so ramblings and movielog went kablooie. Now there's probably a whole bunch of dangling objects wasting Rage's hard drive space. (Or maybe not, if they never got migrated in the first place; I can't really find out, since all the ids were lost.) Oh well. lol.
Any Lounge readers who might have happened to drop in while the import was in progress might have seen some random rambling from the ancient past sitting at the top of the heap for a brief moment in time. If you happened to have such an experience, consider yourself lucky. :)
While I was waiting for the transfer, I took the opportunity to watch a few of those Madonna videos again. The art form of music video just astounds me, at least when it's done right. Perhaps it's because we've never gotten cable in this household. Hence, no MTV growing up. So maybe the novelty value for me has never really been dulled as it has for some people.
It's like, I'll just sit down, hit play, start watching the video, and literally go into a trance. My eyes just become utterly glued to the screen, and won't blink. Then, five minutes later, the song will end, and I'll be like, "Huh?"
Like tonight, I was watching some of em, and making a conscious effort to focus on what was happening. I was like, "Where did that shot come from? I've seen this at least five times before, and have no recollection of ever seeing that image." Yet I must have. I just marvel. Given a choice of most effective potential ways to brainwash an entire population through subliminal subversion, the art of music video would have to be very high on the list. Mwaahaahaa... Maniacal schemes run rampant! :)
One more comment before closing off this topic: With each successive viewing of the Bad Girl video, I am finding myself more psychologically disturbed by its contents. The more disturbed I get, the more I want to watch it again. It's a rather vicious cycle. The good kind of disturbed, mind you. The pleasant kind. Yes, there is such a thing. Call me a freak, but that's how it is. On with the show...
In the "Let's compare my life with The Matrix" department, there was actually quite a bit of blue showing in the sky today. Woohoo. Now, if I could just convince my mind to stop trying to wake up from it, the bliss would be complete. Or maybe not. Eh, I'm talking gibberish now.
One of these days, I'm gonna have to find a better way to hang these posters that keep falling down back on the wall. Yesterday, when I got home from work, both my Gillian Anderson and my Xena/Gabrielle poster (the wide aspect one) were laying in sad little heaps on the floor. :( Me thinks the heat is causing the adhesive to weaken, since everything has been fine for months, and then just during last week, several have simultaniously started coming loose. I'll have to find a better solution soon.
Well, now that the web page is fixed, I think I'll just relax, hang loose for a bit, maybe surf a little more, and take in a little DVD content. My way is the way of the geek. :)
