Coasting through oblivion

I woke up without provokation at 0530 this morning and laid awake until Neelix and my automated mp3 alarms went off at 0640. I promptly arose and took a shower. By the time the dreaded systems presentation drew near, I was actually somewhat releived that it would soon be over, even though it had not yet begun.

As I got dressed up, the scene from Pulp Fiction where Marsellus Wallace pays Butch to take the fall surfaced in my mind. "That's pride fucking with you." The phrase repeated through my mind all the way to the classroom.

On the way in, my advisor (who also teaches systems class) asked why I had not yet registered for classes. I initially stalled, but on her insistance I admitted that there was some chance I would not be coming back in the fall. She teased a bit and said she would have to start a nag mailing list where people could try to convince me to stay. Sooner or later it had to come out. In this case, I think it was late enough anyway.

The presentation went as well as could be expected. A lot of mindless psychobabble. Actually, the other group did have some funny moments. Their skit at the beginning in which Neelix impersonates some sort of old grandmother was good comic relief after our half hour of babbling like mindless drones.

Well, now that that nightmare of a class is over, and I feel relatively content, sitting here comfortably listening to Tori Amos and typing away, I think I'll redirect my attention to CD Corner.
