Other music I listen to

Believe it or not, there is other music in the world besides that of Madonna. Here are some of the groups I like to listen to.
nine inch nails
Some would call it devil music, others just plain noise. Whether you believe it or not, Trent Reznor is in league with Madonna when it comes to musical brilliance. His music can ignite some of the most terrible rage known to man. Listen if you've got the stomach.
Ozzy Osbourne
Madonna is rumored to have sung backup for him before she became famous. That, however, is not why I like his music. I've had a strange affinity for the guy long before I had ever even heard the rumor. It's dark music.
Metallica
These guys know how to think from their hearts, no matter how hard they may be. Some really good stuff. Unfortunately, all five cds I used to own of theirs were stolen over a year ago. Whoever got them didn't get my Madonna though, because in those days The Immaculate Collection wasn't one of the cds I listened to and carried around regularly. Boy am I lucky I didn't.
Queensryche
If you like reflective, painful music that really takes a look at life and what it means, this is music for you. The "Promised Land" cd really touches this directly. Great stuff.

[Ok, I know that by know everybody's thinking, "What's this heavy metal nut doing calling himself a Madonna fan? Is he being dishonest with us? Can he really like all this crap and Madonna's music at the same time? Well, no matter what I say it isn't going to convince you anyway, so go ahead and be the judge.]

Bush
Recently, this has been one of my favorite cds. (Sixteen Stone, that is) It reflects the pain, as well as the joy, of living in our modern world.
Mariah Carey
I know I'm going to get booed among Madonna fans for this one. Really, she does have an outstanding voice, and the lyrics in some of the music are quite profound. I know you don't believe the last part of that statement. Here's one example: check out the song Looking In. If Madonna were singing it, you'd probably be marveling about its meaning, as would I.

Ok, before I am charged with racism for not including some black music, I'd like to say that I really like the music of... Hmm, let me see... Looking through my cd collection... Ah hah! My old Michael Jackson cd! "Bad" was one of my favorites years ago. The title track is totally intense, as is Smooth Criminal. I'm laughing like an idiot now. This cd has a lot of other good songs as well. What! He's not black anymore? It doesn't count? Oh brrroooottttttthhhhheeeeeerrrrrrrr. Ok, I'll find something else... I'll have to look through the pile at the back of my closet though. Her we go.

Janet Jackson, Rhythm Nation 1814. Oops. She's related to the last artist, so I guess she doesn't count either.

Wow, I'm seeing cds I forgot I had... Taylor Dayne... Young M.C. There we go.

Young M.C. Most of you probably don't remember this rapper. My favorite song used to be Bust A Move. I'll have to listen to it again pretty soon. Ah. Here's another one.

M.C. Hammer. Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em. U Can't Touch This.

The very next one in the stack, Jody Watley Larger Than Life.

Ah hah hah. Milli Vanilli. I guess I got duped on that one.

Ce Ce Peniston. I didn't really buy this one though. It got mailed to me when I forgot to send that dumb little card back to the cd club, and I had to pay the bill.

Well, I guess that's it. What!?! I didn't qualify? What about all those cds I named? None of them... current? I haven't been... staying loyal... to the black community? Oh no! Let's see, is there anyone else who's been charged with this recently?

Enigma. Brilliantly conceived music. Madonna, get a translation to the lyrics of Mea Culpa if you don't know Latin. Then you'll know how I feel. And to XXXXXXX XXXXX (The creator of the group Enigma whose name has been omitted): if you're out there, I would be honored if you would use anything I've written here in your music.

Dream Theater, profound and dark music.

Taylor Dayne, who I used to listen to a lot years ago. Don't know what she's been doing recently, but her music influenced a lot of my adolescent thinking, and her voice has a lot of power.

Pink Floyd. She's right. This music is "very male". Watch The Wall again. It expresses a very misogynistic point of view in its underlying philosophy.

White Zombie. Psychoholic Man! I am the Electric Head.

Tons of other groups I don't feel like mentioning here. Don't worry, Madonna. If you want to come over and see them, I'll show you all of my cds. You can stay as long as you like and listen to any of them. :)
