The Hard Truth

We live in a world of vampires. EVERYONE is out to suck the vitality from others. The weak will try to latch onto the strong in order to stay alive. The strong will try to take advantage of the weak by enslaving them and forcing them to work until they die. Everyone is scrambling to get their "fair share." When they get their "fair share," they try to take more. If they cannot get more, they become angry and destructive.

Corperations will try to keep people working with the smallest paychecks the employees will take. Never mind that the profits would easily allow more generous paychecks, which would probably make for happier, hence more productive workers. If companies gave people larger salaries, the people would be unsatisfied and demand still bigger raises. This would continue until the company would die off due to insufficient funds.

There are no morals or laws. Thou shalt not steal. What happens to you if you try to rob the corner store and get caught? You are shamed by society and lawfully imprisoned. What happens if the IRS tries to rob John and Linda of half their paychecks? John and Linda either pay up or go to jail. There is no justice.

How does one survive in such a world? By becoming a better vampire. Be more sneaky, more deceptive, and more unscrupulous than everyone else. Become a corperate shark. Learn to trick people into buying more stock in your company even if you are producing nothing. When the stockholders ask for their returns, you go rob some others using a different company name. After you've done this enough times, you can buy out other companies left and right. After you've gotten rich enough, you can afford to protect yourself from all the other scum bags 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Or, if you don't like corperations, you could head up a labor union. It's easy. Just trick all the poor workers into thinking that they'll become better off if they each give you a slice of their paycheck. Then, you'll have the clout to make the heartless corperation turn over a larger share of the revenues, so the workers will be able to feed their families.

If this whole system makes you sick, perhaps you should consider a job as a politician. Then you could reform it for the next generation. To do this, you'll need to tell all the people that you can fix crime, poverty, and racism. You'll also need to tell everyone that you'll lower their taxes, improve the economy, and get the government off their backs. For some, these words will be enough. For others, particularly parents, you'll need a few more catch phrases. Tell them you'll make sure their children get a better education, you'll protect them from all the "smut" that comes from the media and off of the Internet, and make sure you say their kids will never go hungry while you're in office. Congratulations! You'll be chosen to fix the country.

Oh, what? None of these ideas appeal to you? Maybe you should stay a prole for the rest of your life. Be at the mercy of the system. Me? I think I'll become a drug addict and a prostitute.
