1996: Tribute To Orwell

Note to the reader:

The following is a modern interpretation of the storyline behind the book 1984. Words have gone out, lost their meaning, and this is what the party fights for. The ultimate goal is to eliminate the existence of language entirely. At that point, people will function as any other animal and be easily controlled. This story has been partially translated into newspeak. Eventually, after the population has had time to adjust, the entire document will be in newspeak. For an oldspeak version, look at your local library or bookstore, and see if there are any copies left on paper. Whether you choose to read the newspeak version or the oldspeak version is up to you, but always remember this: While you're reading, be entertained and enjoy. This is fiction, and it is meant to be consumed and digested by the proletariat. Inner Party members should avoid reading it, as the subject matter is too dirty for their precious minds. Those in the lower class: live it, love it, and soak it up. You've got bliss, and the hope of the world lies with you.
