At long last, Serenity hit the big screen. I liked this movie, but I didn't love it to the degree that I did the tv show.
This may simply be because of the constraints of the medium. With television, Joss was able to develop characters gradually over a period of months, leaving lots of room for interaction over the course of many adventures. The big screen lacks that luxury. Also, the plot had a couple of
minor plausibility issues (especially toward the end).
Still, there's a lot to like about what he and the cast did with it. There was a bunch of fun and witty dialog, smartly done fight scenes, and a good story. It also gives the viewer some broader philosophical things to think about.
Definitely a worthwhile movie, but given the choice, I'd still rather have Firefly return as a series without a doubt.
