My day in brief

Very brief. Biked around northern Lincoln in leisurely manner. Ate bread and cheese. Saw Dark Water, and found it well worth the $2. Saw Elaine Pagels speak at the Lied Center -- a talk focused mostly on comparing and contrasting the Gospel of Thomas with that of John.
Main thesis: Though they share much in common, the Gospel of Thomas promoted a view that all people are divine children of God, and that there is more than one way to access this divinity, while John's version made Jesus the exclusive source of "light". (A word she went to great lengths to define in a Biblical sense, going back to referencing Genesis.)
Overall, an enjoyable day. But now my spinach is withering and turning to slime. I bought more than I should have yesterday. I'm eating as much as I can while it's still edible at all.
Word up: Open Harvest has an amazing variety of cheeses, but I don't buy them very often (read: never) cause they're generally quite expensive. Yesterday though, there was a package of unclaimed gorgonzola on the write-off shelf (read: free stuff for employees and volunteers; yes, there are other benefits besides the 15% discount). I snagged it up. When I broke off a little piece and ate it with bread, it was like heaven for my tastebuds. I was actually surprised how far a tiny little block of cheese can go when it's so good. Just a teensy little bit yields a mouthful of flavor when combined with a big chunk of bread. I might have to rethink the logic that says a big 1.5-pound block of cheese for $6 is a better deal than a tiny little piece for the same price.
Early morning work tomorrow. The first such shift in a long time, even though it's officially part of my normal schedule. I'll be attempting to get some sleep soon.
