Death by an angry pack of Walmart employees! (News)

Wednesday, August 10, 2005 08:25

A man suspected of shoplifting is wrestled to the ground in a Wal Mart parking lot by employees, where he is handcuffed and held against the scorching hot pavement until he dies.

This one is just... strange. I want to think there's more to this story than what's being reported. It just doesn't quite add up.

Dude, WTF

My friend Dave knew a cyclist who was pinned down under a truck in Texas during a car accident. Even though the truck was removed, he suffered third degree burns on half his body.

Anyone who's lived in Texas could anticipate this happening. The fact that one employee (security guard?) prevented a rug from being used constitutes first degree murder, and I hope the DA pursues it as such.

Frankly, I'm not sure what kind of screwed up system allows employees of stores to pursue vigilante justice? If you "suspect" someone of shoplifting, that gives you the right to chase them through the street? Not in any country I want to live in. Wal-mart should have the pants sued off it -- if I were on that jury, the judgment would have the word "billion" in it.
