Best Batman movie yet? Quite possibly.
Despite the fact that I really enjoyed it, I'm not feeling
terribly articulate about it at the moment. I could
sit and make generic pronouncements about how good the
acting was, the well-paced buildup of the story,
etc etc etc. This entry could then begin to resemble
a cut-and-paste job of half the other positive entries in
my database, substituting in the names of the various
actors and other contributors, adding a few little
touches to reference specific parts of the production. Blah.
Sometimes a good (or even great) movie doesn't have to
inspire a lot of long-winded commentary. You watch it,
you enjoy it, you admire the craft that went into it, and
that's that. This is why I'm not Roger Ebert, despite
my one-time aspirations in his footsteps (i.e.
adaptation of the four-star rating system).
Yes, it was a very enjoyable movie. Yes, Christian
Bale and all the rest gave very good performances, and
Christopher Nolan in the director's chair is the man.
If you want something more profound, go read Tim's
thoughts on the movie. That's what I'm doing.
