When my dad said, "Want a ride to the post news job fair tomorrow?" I knew I was in a bind.

Here's the problem: If I say "No", it looks like I'm not really serious about looking for a job. If I say "Yes", then tomorrow I'll end up wasting several hours going to the dumb thing.

Regardless of whether I actually am really serious about finding a job or not (I don't even know that myself much of the time these days), I have never, ever, ever had any luck at job fairs. None whatsoever. Never have they even led to an interview for me. A useless waste of time, an exercise in humiliation, a bunch of dopey posturing. That's all they are.

So now I don't know what I'm going to do.

Have I mentioned lately that I despise the world?

Right.

Meanwhile, the mounting bills remind me that I really do need to find something soon, or I'll be in hot water before much longer. What to do, what to do?

Job fairs

I still remember bumping into the company I worked for (MM) at a job fair once. Instead of avoiding them, I went up and made a joke about it. But something about being an intern gives you license to look for other jobs, I think.

Anyway, a "Post" jobfair sounds suspicious in that only non-tech jobs would be there. But the nice thing about a job fair is that you can see how the people are at the company, at least if it's not too huge of a company.
