Hacking Society. Not.

Well, my theoretical plan was to go to Hacking Society tonight. I just canceled that plan.

The snow just started to fall ferociously about a half hour ago. By the time I made it out the door to look around, it looked dubious, but I decided to try to weather it anyway.

When I started up Tobias, the windshield wipers easily cleared the thin layer of wet heavy snow that had accumulated, and I began my journey. As I started out down the back road next to the apartment complex, there was no traffic, so I decided to test the roads a little.

I slammed on the breaks a couple times, and tried making a couple of jerky turns. I was prepared for a little bit of slippery behavior, but it surprised even me when Tobias darted out of control, into a low speed 15mph spin across the lanes.

I regained control of the vehicle, made a prompt U-turn at the first available opportunity, and returned to the parking lot. Tonight is not a night to drive to Boulder, especially since it's not absolutely necessary.

There will be more Hacking Society sessions to attend another week.

I'm here. It was on my way home so it wasn't much of a effort to stop.

The roads are somewhat exciting, but I experienced nothing like Bitscape and Tobias. I even tried just a little. I guess there's good reason Subaru sells so well in CO.

Roads

I think that same storm came through here a day or two later. I was driving out to Norfolk up hiway 81, it's a north/south road, the day after the storm (the roads were dry by that afternoon) and counted almost a dozen vehicles that were in the ditches. Nothing like a good 40 mph or more crosswind to help you slide off of an icy road.

I like the picture of the Jumping spastic chipmunks, btw.
