Hacking Society, etc

Hacking Society tonight was fun. I was the second person to arrive, so I sat and talked with Kevin about kernels, his router, and random stuff. Predictions about horrible weather and slippery roads were greatly exaggerated. (Well, San Antonio might consider a few flurries like we had tonight to be a catastrophy warranting emergency federal relief funds, but it's no biggie here.)
Zan Lynx brought his Angel Season 3 set for me to borrow, and I loaned Jaeger my Season 1 set. Angel all around. All hail great (soon to be) canceled tv shows.
Turnout tonight wasn't nearly as big as the last Hacking Society I attended a couple weeks ago. I think I counted total of 9 people there. Zan Lynx used his Zaurus to reset my Oberon password, which I had forgotten. The majority who had laptops poked away at them while conversing on various topics.
Discussion topics included programming languages (Chris's comments about Lisp made me think it might be a fun "out there" language to learn, although it remains to be seen whether I will actually be motivated enough to actively pursue such knowledge, given its limited practical applications), politics (oh dear, my Wal Mart rambling earlier today here may have played a part in striking a match next to this proverbial can of gasoline <evil_snicker/>), xml/xslt, garbage collection, and the wonders of the cross-language Parrot virtual machine.
Sipping espresso, eating bagel, and engaging in geeky discussions. Not a bad way to spend an evening.
Now I think I'll do a little x13 hacking before I get sucked into the vortex of Angel Season 3. Sleep would also probably be a good idea at some point in the not too far future.
